Patrick Towles got the game ball

towles

What a night for Patty Ice, when he needed it the most. With pressure from an uneasy fan base and an anxious Drew Barker eyeing an opportunity behind him, Patrick Towles answered the call and played a great football game. He went 22-for-27 through the air for 247 yards and two touchdowns. He added another 21 yards and six points on the ground, too.

“I’m pretty stingy with game balls, but I think he deserved one tonight,” said Stoops in his postgame press conference. “I thought he played a really good game and made some really good plays with his feet. He was aggressive down the stretch.”

Everyone calling for Barker to take over at quarterback will have to hush for at least another week. This was a statement game for Towles, and he reminded everyone why he was given the reins to the team in fall camp.

No quarterback controversy here.

The receivers bailed out Towles all night, the bad thing about this win is Drew will not get a chance,

Really? I like Barker, but give credit where it’s due-PT played an outstanding game, Never took a sack he could avoid. No interceptions-put every pass where his guy-and only his guy-could make the play. I was as critical of PT last week as anyone-and it was well deserved. i also give credit when he does well-and he did.

EKU should be a gimme game so I hope we at least finally get to see what kind of tools Barker has. For a “just in case” glimpse at least.

Towles had good game, and I’m happy we won. The problem is we all know he will come out flat the next game and will be lucky to beat EKU.

I’m a Colonel. Love the school and the program. That said-EKU has no chance. None. Zero.

Statistically the best defense in the SEC. Best. In the SEC. 21 points? Works for me.

Would you prefer a statement more like OSU’s 20-13 win over NIU? I couldn’t even tell you what team NIU is without looking it up.

If guys like Gabe and Andrew are being serious, then it’s very true that some people are never satisfied. Maybe some of our so called fans need to find their way over to “Camp Cardinal” for the remainder of the season. Those guys could really use your support!

A good win against a solid SEC defense last night. Mizzou gets little respect from the media, and some of the other SEC fan bases; but, there’s a reason that program has won the SEC East twice since joining the league.

Maggard and his boys need to hush for at least another week. Not every game is a must-win game. The problem, of course, is the next time we do lose, they’ll be right back telling us how haven’t “turned the corner.”

    Talk about disgruntled fans.

Maggard is a lot more than just a fan. Do you know his bio? I am all about positivity and sunshine but perhaps you haven’t been a suffering UK fan for the last quarter of a century. We have a lot of history that needs to be forgotten and I think this team can make that happen. Honestly, as a competitor EVERY game should be a must-win. Anything less in the expectations department (from the players or coaches) virtually guarantees disappointing results. As fans, we should temper our expectations but a 6-6 record is truly the minimum we should accept from this team given our talent, facilities and 8 home game schedule with many of the usual monsters being slightly lackluster.

Megan, surely you jest. Freddie tells it like it is. Period. Good and bad. What more can you ask for?

I’m very pleased with Patrick’s performance and it’s fine that he got the game ball but I sure hope BBN stops for just a moment and realizes that the UK DEFENSE held Missouri to 13 points last night….13!!! Defense wins football games. UK defense has a history of giving up 30 points (or more) a game. Of all the things that make me proud of this team it is the improvement (against Florida too!) in the defense effort that stands out the most. What an amazing and wonderful turn around. If they can continue to hold teams under 21 points a game, they have a chance to win ’em all, and if they do win them all, we will all know who to heep the praise on…right !? GREAT JOB UK DEFENSE…you may take a bow.
