University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Pack Commonwealth Stadium tomorrow

A quick break from the celebration: Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s spring game and the football program needs every seat to be filled. Last year’s record crowd made a statement to recruits all over the country that Big Blue Nation is committed to football, and this year is no different. The staff has several elite recruits scheduled to visit, including one Damien Harris, and with a capacity of 42,000 due to construction, there’s no reason why Commonwealth shouldn’t be completely full to show them we’re serious about this.

So get on over to Ticketmaster.com to reserve your seat(s) and get out there early for tailgating because it’s going to be a gorgeous day. You’d be crazy not to, honestly.

Let’s Go Cats.

Damn. Sounds like a great day for spring football. I’m stuck in TX, but was there last year and it was a lot of fun.

I got my six tickets. We are looking forward to the game! Just hope to still see some passing even with all the WR’s hurt right now.

I live in Missouri and just can’t physically be there. How about this? Prop up one of those cardboard silhouettes for me and my wife in any empty seats you can find. We will be there in spirit too.

We are moving back to KY in the Fall and will be at the spring games from now on.

There are lots of us fans who bleed blue for both football and basketball from out of state.

Can KSR start an initiative that let’s us sign on somewhere on-line as a sign of support so the recruits can see how widespread BBN really is?

“There’s no reason why Commonwealth shouldn’t be completely full to show them we’re serious about this.”

Well there is one reason. 2-10. This team is flat awful, why do I want to watch the same pathetic team from last season. Only a couple players are different. The bulk of the new guys won’t show up until August. Show me something in the fall, then maybe I’ll be interested.

You’re putting the cart before the horse. Showing up to things like this is the one tangible way the fans can actually help the team. Attendance affects recruits’ perceptions, and is a huge part of recruiting. The people that want success BEFORE they show up are the worst. Please stay away once we start winning.

Stoops has had 2 years of success at recruiting. When are we going to see some results?

    • Reality
      6:54 pm April 25, 2014 Permalink

Bubba doesn’t seem to understand that football teams take a LOT more time to turn around than basketball teams. Plus, at the point he’s talking about (2-10) we had ONE year of successful recruiting, and almost all of those players red-shirted, so really we have barely seen any of the dividends that the new coaching staff is paying.

I’m right there with you Bubba!! Like its going to hurt if they don’t want us cheering for UK. Just win an SEC game and then talk to us! The refusal to hire PETRINO told me all I needed to know about how serious they are about having a winning program. There is no bandwagon at UK!! Just a golf cart of people with big blue glasses

Bubba, why don’t you wait a couple years until UK football is on top, then you can jump back on the bandwagon at that point. You have no idea how gladly BBN will welcome you back

Bubba…….fair weather fan. If you still can’t get on board with this staff and the talent they are bringing in we dang sure don’t need you. Go Big Blue!

There is no reason not to go if you are in town. Saying the results of last season is the reason is ridiculous. Thinking like that will get us no where.that makes you a failure as a fan

no, being oblivious to the program’s results for the past 30 years and continuing to give the program money is what makes someone a failure as a fan.

only a couple players different? there are 17 kids that were redshirted last year that will play this year. we have 3 juco’s that should be in the 2 deep. we have 5 or 6 freshmen that will get some snaps this year.

    • Bubba
      8:41 am April 25, 2014 Permalink

OK. So we have 17 kids that weren’t good enough to play on a 2-10 team. How is that better?

so you’re not really a fan of sports are you? especially UK. i mean, how could redshirting 17 kids be good for the long term growth of a program. kids get bigger and stronger. last years class had more talent in it than the last 3 combined and this years class was even better…. but nothing to get excited about.

    • schwing
      7:33 pm April 25, 2014 Permalink

kids get bigger and stronger by playing also. ralphmalph had a valid point to make – the redshirt players weren’t better than the players the staff chose to play.

I don’t care if they are 2-10 or 10-2… ill be there cheering on the CATS!!! C-A-T-S CATS CATS CATS!!! More fans need to represent win or lose. The players feed off of the fans more than people realize.

    • schwing

then the people who showed up to cheer them on must have been flat awful.

They should have the M’s BBall team come on the field at Commonwealth at halftime or during a break in the action tomorrow night. If the fans get to publicly thank the twins for coming back I think they’ll get the added boost the Football team and staff need to fill CWS to the 42k capacity. Sure it’s using bball to help football but isn’t that teamwork from the perspective of the athletic department?

Terrible idea. Spotlight is on football not basketball. It’s about impressing recruits not reinforcing some “basketball school” image. Plus..when the hell did a strong bb program ever help fb?!?!

    • Reality
      6:59 pm April 25, 2014 Permalink

Cal has been sharing some of his experience with Stoops for over a year now, you don’t think ANY of the principles of recruiting cross over sports? If I had to bet, I’d say Cal told him from day one: “be real with the kids. Tell them HOW you’re going to challenge them and why that’s what they should want. Don’t even mention other schools. Let their moms know that you’re going to be taking care of their baby while letting their dads know you’re going to turn them into young men.”

Some of you guys are an embarrassment to this fan base, probably never attended a single game let alone take a class out of high school.

Probably a good thing that not a single person outside of the Commonwealth reads this rag or the comments. Morind
