We are now 100 days away from Kentucky’s season opener against Louisiana-Lafayette, which means it’s time for the early lines for the season to trickle out. Offshore sportsbook 5Dimes got things rolling yesterday with their win totals for the majority of the Power 5 conferences.

How many wins do they believe Kentucky will get? Six, which seems pretty reasonable to me given the schedule:

Here are the win totals for the rest of the SEC:

  • Alabama: 9.5 (over -145, under +105)
  • Arkansas: 8.5 (over +120, under -160)
  • Auburn: 8.5 (over +100, under -140)
  • Georgia: 9 (over -135, under -105)
  • Kentucky: 6 (over -120, under -120)
  • LSU: 8 (over -115, under -125)
  • Ole Miss: 8.5 (over -110, under -130)
  • Mississippi State: 7 (over -110, under -130)
  • South Carolina: 7 (over -120, under -120)
  • Texas A&M: 7.5 (over -135, under -105)
  • Vanderbilt: 3 (over -135, under -105)
  • No line yet: Florida, Tennessee, Missouri

At least we’re not Vandy, right?

wow so they’re saying that 13 of 14 teams will be bowl eligible(I think we can all assume that UF, UT, and Mizzou will be eligible)? That would be mighty impressive. All the naysayers who rag on the SEC and say that it is overrated and isn’t deserving of the toughest conference would surely have to eat dirt… I hope these Vegas folks are right! Go Cats!

Could just as easily be a display of mediocrity in the league… I mean if most teams have a NC schedule that guarantees 3-4 wins, it’s not hard to see winning 2-3 more if everyone is just kinda ‘meh’. Not necessarily saying that’s the case, but it could easily be that there aren’t a lot of totally dominant teams anymore (especially in the East).

Yeah that is fair… I hadn’t considered the devil’s advocate argument. I think that the Alabama’s and LSU’s of the world will still continue to be in the title talks; however, if we have 13 teams that are bowl eligible that those top dogs have to beat, I think that is certainly an argument in favor of strength of conference… but i see what you’re saying.

I see 4 definite wins (ULL, EKU, Charlotte, Vandy) and one toss-up (UofL). I’m having trouble finding a sixth win – Florida is probably the best shot.

I think the florida, mizzou, and tennessee games are all toss ups… I know we got throttled by tennessee last year but hopefully the game at home will make a difference… that game is on halloween so maybe the eery atmosphere and ghosts from the past will give us a boost! haha

Auburn game is Thursday night, at home, coming off a game against EKU and after a 12 day break. Home games against UF, Mizzou and UT. Win win 2 or 3 of our SEC home games and we could go into the Louisville game with 6 or 7 wins, assuming we take care of business against Vandy.
