Kentucky’s offensive line was one of the best at protecting its quarterback during the first weekend of college football. Terry Wilson took only one sack against Toledo’s defense, all thanks to Wilson’s frontline in the trenches — Drake Jackson, Logan Stenberg, Landon Young, Luke Fortner and Darian Kinnard, to name a few.
Pro Football Focus, the website that has recently become the gold standard in football statistics, gave UK’s offensive line a 93.8 grade for its Week 1 performance against the Rockets. That number is the third-highest mark in the country, behind only the grades for the offensive lines at Rutgers (94.5) and Temple (93.9).
Mark Stoops was obviously happy with his team’s pass blocking, but said there is room to improve run blocking. “There were some rush lanes, some rush lane issues,” he said after the game, but was pleased overall with the first game.
