Many of you who are rooting for the Falcons tonight are probably doing so because you want to see Jacob Tamme with a Super Bowl ring. And that’s all well and good. But if the Patriots get the win, don’t fret too much. New England has a player with Kentucky ties, too.

Matt Lengel, Patriots tight end, is a native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. After a year at Northeastern, Lengel spent the remainder of his college football career in Kentucky.

Eastern Kentucky, that is. Lengel spent the next 5 seasons at EKU, catching bombs just a few miles south of Lexington.

Lengel signed with the Bengals in 2015 after going undrafted, and after a tumultuous season, which saw him relegated to Cincinnati’s practice squad, Lengel found a spot on New England’s roster in 2016.

So if you’re completely anti-Patriots tonight, there’s a silver lining for you.
