Nick Saban took a subtle shot at Kentucky today
Nick Saban and his soon-to-be national champion Alabama team will host Western Kentucky this coming Saturday down in Tuscaloosa, and today he took a shot at your University of Kentucky Wildcats while previewing that game.
Saban told reporters, “We had two teams in our league that lost to teams that were nowhere near this good (as Western).”
Obviously, Saban is saying Kentucky and Mississippi State took some embarrassing losses for the conference. He didn’t call any other program out by name, but that comment is pretty clear he thinks Western is better than Southern Miss, which is not a good look for us.

how is it “taking a shot” when he is right?
I don’t see Saban as a guy who “punches down” at someone pitiful. I think he was just saying Western is better than two other OOC teams that have already beaten SEC teams.

Cal takes shots all the time at other schools, coaches, players, fans (UK fans & others). Can’t be thin-skinned when it comes back.
damm straight; I recall many years ‘bama couldn’t beat WKU, Kentucky Wesleyan, or Kentucky State in basketball.

Western is better than Southern Miss, they have been for a while. They have also been better than us for a while. Stop acting like they haven’t been.
I have no problem with his comments–he’s making a point to his team that if they don’t prepare, they too could lose. That being said, he sure as hell ain’t worried about UK; he could play nothing but the third string and beat the living hell out of us. I’m sure his staff will laugh their asses off watching our lives defensive coaches get completely dumbfounded by a CUSA team destroying us while running only 8 different plays. #djelliotstinks

How is that taking a shot? He is saying his team better be ready. Some of the KSR writers should be working for the national enquirer.
He doesn’t have to throw sister institutions under the bus just to say WKU has a good program, and he’s not taking them lightly.
