Mike Patrick and Ed Cunningham need to be fired right now

cunningham-patrick

Hey ESPN, you gotta get rid of your boys. Never in my life have I heard such awful, unprepared, completely false commentary 0n a sports broadcast. Mike Patrick and Ed Cunningham should’ve been fired an hour ago for ruining what has been a pretty good game so far. Just put their names in a Twitter search to see all of the complaints from fans.

Some of my favorites from the first half…

— Cunningham confusing Benny Snell/Boom Williams for Stephen Johnson multiple times out of the Wildcat

— Calling the game a “cross-town rivalry”

— Saying “this game’s not over” with a 14-14 score

— “James Quick, from right here in Lexington”

— “Drew Baker”

— “Marcellus McWilson”

— Cunningham’s dismissal of several obvious penalties, my favorite being “he got there early but that’s okay” on the no pass interference call

— “That looked like a five-yard penalty but we don’t have those anymore”

— “Kentucky has a run-based run game”

— “He really didn’t hit him” after Charles Walker got hit

Submit your own below.

And ESPN, please, fire Mike Patrick and Ed Cunningham. Like, yesterday.

** UPDATE **

Second half favorites…

— Immediately out of the halftime break, Mike Patrick led off the broadcast with “The Cats were favored by 27 points and only lead by three.”

— “Jeff BAW-det”

— “Looks like that’s Mike Ed- Chris Wealthy.”

I thought they were watching Netflix at the same time as they were announcing. They giggled and laughed like teenagers the entire game. I wanted to scream.

Surely, they both HAD to be drunk! There is no other possible explanation. If they were on drugs, they would have done a better job!

A tie game with 1 minute left and he talked about was the Heisman Trophy. I had to mute him.

The he got there early on the PI particularly ruffled my feathers.

Mike Patrick is usually very good. But he usually calls Big 12 games. He is ill prepared for ACC SEC or Kentucky.

No clue whether we are going to pull this off or not, but I want to go on record at 31-31 saying UofL is the fifth or sixth best team we’ve faced this year.

Fire Stoops. He sucks. We only beat Loserville by 3. Pathetic.

“The wrist is more forearm than hand-no fumble.”

“What is Stoops doing, wasting lots of time not using timeout (1 min left)”
“Louisville lost a big opportunity not using their timeouts (30 seconds left)”

Idiot. Thank you Drew for posting this, was losing my mind this game.

In the second half, Patrick suggested that UK was faking injuries to slow down UL’s pace…then hastened to add “I don’t think they’re doing that, but…”

Between Patrick’s ready-for-retirement errors and Cunningham’s obvious UL/Jackson cheerleading (seems like he took issue with every flag thrown against UL in the first half), they were easily the worst ESPN combo I’ve heard in a LONG time…and I watch a LOT of football.

They clearly thought the would be able to get away with talking about Lamar Jackson the whole game.

Apparently too much Kentucky Bourbon — these guys even look drunk. Definitely far below the quality fans expect from ESPN.

Cunningham said that Lamar Jackson didn’t fumble because it was more of the “forehand” which is connected to the arm (forearm?)……surprised he didn’t say foreskin!

When Boom went down, they said “Nick Haynes down” … how do you get a RB confused for an OL?

When Blake Bone was hurt “looks like Garret Johnson down”

On one punt play I think near end of half , “clock ran a little fast there”.
Game tied, “Kentucky needs a touchdown here to keep up with Jackson”.
Thought maybe it was just me. Wow.
