With the 99th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Kentucky defensive back Mike Edwards. A third round selection, a UK player has been picked in each round of the NFL Draft
The Kentucky Badger was a three-year starter in Lexington. A versatile playmaker that lined up at safety and slot corner, Edwards opted to return for a senior season after he was a projected mid-round draft pick in 2018.
In his final year in Lexington, Edwards become just the second Kentucky defensive back to join the 300-Tackle Club. He finished his career with 318 tackles (19th in school history), 21 for loss, 23 pass break-ups and 10 interceptions. Edwards was a three-time All-SEC selection.
A significant portion of Edwards’ paycheck will be set aside for Skyline. The only thing the Badger loves more than hitting wide receivers is that sweet Cincinnati chili.
