Melvin Lewis has signed as a free agent to play for the New York Giants. Even though his senior season ended early with a leg injury against Auburn, he interviewed very well and impressed during his limited workouts.
The defensive tackle was the leader of Kentucky’s defense despite being on campus for a short amount of time. The Junior College nose tackle finished his two-year career with 57 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
If anybody deserves a second chance to bounce back from a devastating injury, it’s Melvin Lewis. I couldn’t be happier for Big Mel and his family. If you’re unfamiliar with the adversity he’s overcome, it’s quite the inspiring story.
Lewis’ injury shouldn’t prevent him from being able to fully participate in upcoming rookie mini-camps.
