Melvin Lewis mentoring Matt Elam, sees his new hunger

Melvin Lewis spoke very highly of Matt Elam, his fellow defensive tackle this morning. Lewis said his younger teammate on the line is making huge strides this offseason.

“There’s been times where I went outside and just saw him running on his own,” Lewis said of Elam’s consistency and work ethic. “You can see that he wants it. He has that hunger now. So I really believe that he’s going to make a lot of good plays this year.”

Lewis sees it in other guys, too — not just Elam.

“I see it throughout the whole team,” said Lewis. “So it’s exciting to see stuff like that, when people want to put in the extra work to be better.”

Mark Stoops said Lewis has been mentoring Elam this offseason, among others. Lewis, a senior, accepted his role as a leader on the team and he’s doing all he can to help the younger Wildcats.

My stupid days are finally behind me and its all football all the time from now on. Coach Dawson is so much better than coach Brown. To prove that, I will compare in great detail coach Dawson’s playbook to coach Brown’s in the next installment of my KSR diary. Thanks for y’all’s support y’all
