Media Picks Fourth-Place Finish for Kentucky in SEC East, Six Wildcats Named All-SEC

The preseason picks are in… a few months later than normal.

Typically unveiled at the conclusion of SEC Media Days, today the league revealed the media’s predicted order of finish and their picks for All-SEC teams. Six Wildcats were selected to the preseason All-SEC teams, including three on the first team, while Mark Stoops’ squad is predicted to finish fourth in the SEC East behind Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.

Punter Max Duffy, center Drake Jackson and offensive tackle Landon Young received First Team All-SEC Honors. UK’s other offensive tackle, Darian Kinnard, was a second team selection, while defensive end Josh Paschal and outside linebacker Boogie Watson were named to the third team.

As you can see by the voting, the SEC East has three clear tiers: Florida and Georgia at the top, Kentucky and Tennessee competing for third and the other guys. The Wildcats narrowly were edged out by the Vols. I can’t help but think that may have been different if the KSR crew received ballots ahead of the 2020 season.

In a shocking turn of events, the media predicted an SEC Championship for Nick Saban’s Alabama football team. You can see the entire All-SEC teams by clicking here.

I think we can win it…. No worse than 3rd, but feeling good about at least 2nd if we can stay healthy at QB and ILB….

What has given you confidence we’ll beat Tennessee? Win that one and the schedule opens up and anything is possible, but CMS has done nothing but give games away to the vols. No UK coach in history has had this many shots at a down Tennessee program and we still can’t get past them.

It is time to beat TN. Just win the game. Until then UK will always be ranked behind in the media. Go CATS, beat TN.
