Maxwell Smith named starting QB at San Diego State

Former UK starting quarterback Maxwell Smith has a new home and new responsibilities for the 2015 college football season. Today he was named the starter at San Diego State, beating out redshirt freshman Christian Chapman in a tight competition for the position. Smith will have one season with the Aztecs with expectations to reach the Mountain West title game.

At Kentucky, the California nativeĀ stepped in as a freshman and showed signs of being the long term answer at QB. However, injuries slowed his development and prevented him from reaching his full potential in Lexington. He transferred to San Diego State after graduating from UK in December, having played in 21 games with 11 starts.

Good luck to him and his new program.

I wish him the best but it sure was painful to watch him throw near the end of his UK career.

Judging by how beat-to-hell he looked, it was probably painful for him to actually throw.

Nice! Congrats to Maxwell. I know SDS doesn’t get much run but they’ve been surprisingly good in recent years and have been bowling 5 years running. Glad to see him having some success.

Max is a great kid, and was a good QB. He just got hurt, because Joker didn’t bother to recruit an O line. He never could get healthy.

You can’t have an O line! O’s are circles!

      OOOOOOOOOOOOO

      See, Drax? O line.

Dear Drax, you really must be brain damaged. Where, in the wide, wide world of sports, does it say a line must be straight? I would say nice try, but you are a dipsh#$. An “o” IS actually a line. A continuous one.

O is a letter (or a variable). A circle is a set of all points are exactly the same distance from a center point.

This kid is the real deal. He will make an NFL roster if his shoulder is sound.

Great news for that kid! What a resilient and determined spirit!

    Best of luck to him.
