Former UK starting quarterback Maxwell Smith has a new home and new responsibilities for the 2015 college football season. Today he was named the starter at San Diego State, beating out redshirt freshman Christian Chapman in a tight competition for the position. Smith will have one season with the Aztecs with expectations to reach the Mountain West title game.
At Kentucky, the California native stepped in as a freshman and showed signs of being the long term answer at QB. However, injuries slowed his development and prevented him from reaching his full potential in Lexington. He transferred to San Diego State after graduating from UK in December, having played in 21 games with 11 starts.
Good luck to him and his new program.
