Will Nick’s recap start with a play by play recap of his brother’s scrimmage vs. Desales HS 3rd string Defense followed by his telling readers to shut their freaking mouths if they don’t want to read it? Then will he again tell us how UK has the best D line in the SEC and we will beat Miami by 90 points? Man, I hope so.

    Has should he.

And throw the damn ball now. That’s your selling point. Don’t screw it up. Make these inevitable 10 losses fun and entertaining.

    Get ’em Max!

    In 2 weeks:

    UK 35
    UofL 28

You heard it here first. Maybe Whitlow can “get loose” and be the exclamation point on that game? Then UofL will be the third best team in the state.

Whitlow is done. Yes, Smith should be the QB. should have been all along. But yank the previously named starting QB after one game that was lost NOT because of him, and he’s done.

Can Whitlow catch a pass? Get him on the field! Although I wouldn’t wish one of those bubble/suicide screens on anybody…

QB is part of the problem but it’s WAY down the list. Wasn’t at the game and the place where I watched closed at 10:00 so I didn’t get to see Smith play. But on the game highlights I saw on Coach Stoops’ show it appeared that several of Max’s throws wobbled the whole way to the receiver. Whitlow has to play and play a lot. He is one of the few difference makers we have. I imagine we will alternate qb’s a lot and continue to run a sort of Wildcat when Whitlow is in and a more standard Air Raid offense with Max. But better times are coming, just not as quickly as many had believed.

I know they need better players, but this is just like a Joker Phillips team. Run the ball on 3rd and long, bubble screens that don’t work, and switch quarterbacks after the team loses.

Patrick towles must be the worst qb on the planet, max cant throw the ball more than 30 yards without it looking like a pop fly, whitlow can’t hit the broad side of a barn, and towles is behind these guys?

I’d imagine would sub in whitlow a lot at wide receiver, couple trick plays where we may or may not snap it directly to him. Or not, idk.

I like the QB move, he gives the offense a better look. I’d like to see Timmons
get a lot more touches, the kid has skill ….

@9 I believe Stoops may have been holding OC Brown back. He may let the reins off next week.

  14. Wait what?
    12:06 pm September 2, 2013 Permalink

Wait….what? Did UK Homer really just say “UK 35 – UL 28”? That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard in a while. Apparently someone doesn’t own a TV.

Mad Max at the helm. Now maybe the offense will have some teeth in it. Play Whitlow at receiver, let him run some reverses, get him in space. Really need Timmons out there the guy is special make plays for him. Will this make us win more? Likely not but at least it will be more entertaining than bubble screens and field goals. The line play is so critical for any football team and UK has a poor line on both sides of the ball. Three years sports fans just be patient.

7: Several of us proposed that on another thread. Whitlow was rated an athlete, not a QB on Rivals. He seems to be a better runner than most of our backs, and he’s not a horrible passer. Why not put him in the slot and run some trick plays using him? I thought Stoops and Brown’s mandate was to make things exciting even tho we lose a lot the first few years. That first game was anything but exciting.

  18. Wait what?

Bwahahaha. What is it that makes you think we will be competitive against them?

@Mike – “Holding Brown back”??? In his first game as a head coach against a team that we all knew was pretty much as good as us, if not better?? You’re kidding, right?

  20. This stinks
    12:39 pm September 2, 2013 Permalink

I honestly think the game plan was to run all over WKU with our backs against their unproven line. Why throw if you don’t need to. We had some success in that, but our D was shredded. I don’t think Stoops held Brown back–I think they stuck with the game plan and while it worked to some degree offensively–of you have a great D-line you have to be more stout against the run–but your linebackers also must hit their gaps. Lots of issues on defense…..

I give some of you credit even after an abysmal showing against Western at least one of you (UK homer) has the ability to still talk smack. Lets be real here, Western man handled you guys from start to finish. The Western QB was 27 for 32 and that was good but considering #10 for Western had 4 drops it really magnifies how awful the defense is for UK, I think Teddy and our receiving core is a little better than what Western has to offer. By the way did Western’s punter even have to enter the game?

    14. Then I guess you don’t know squat about this rivalry. Many many times has the less talented underdog In this series won the game. Do I think it will happen? No. But is it out of the question? No!

Let Whitlow run the Wildcat and other special packages. Smith should’ve been the starter all along. EIGHT pass attempts in the first half. Air Raid my ass.

Max Smith is the only chance to win he can hit receivers, the coaching staff should have known that! Turn the air raid loose!

    1:54 pm September 2, 2013 Permalink

Great to hear that Smith is starting now. I think our offense will look better with Smith running the show. I know Smith was throwing against Western’s prevent defense, but he was making good throws. He can also get the ball in open space to athletes like Jojo Kemp, Timmons and DeMarco Robinson. Great move by the staff to make the change now instead of waiting to make the move too late.

Yes Cat Fan in Georgia. I believe Stoops was holding Brown back because our offense generally pretty conservative. And no, most people did not realize WKU was as good or better than us. Last time I checked, most people wrote last year’s game off as a fluke and bad coaching by Joker. We are supposed to be running an air raid, and the fact that we ran the ball so damn much tells me that Stoops was making some judgement calls. He is the head coach after all. Wasn’t even a criticism, just an observation.

FINALLY!!!!……When running the Air Raid offense or any variation of it, you first need a PASSING QB.

Nice, put Timmons as a starter. Two passes thrown to him. One drop, one HUGE fumble.
