Max Duffy wins Ray Guy Award for NCAA’s best punter

Max Duffy is officially the best punter in college football. The voters for the Ray Guy Award said so.

Duffy was named the recipient of the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation’s premier punter, at Thursday night’s Home Depot College Football Awards show. A native of Australia, Duffy came to Kentucky as the No. 1 punting prospect in the class of 2018 by Ray Guy’s

In this 2019 season, his junior year, Duffy leads the nation in punting at 48.6 yards per punt, while only nine of his 47 punts have been returned and 24 of the 47 landed inside the 20-yard line.

He is currently UK’s career punt leader with a 46.5-yard career average.

In addition to his school records and Ray Guy Award trophy, Duffy earned First Team All-SEC honors by the AP, Second Team All-SEC by the coaches (dumb), and First-Team All-America by Walter Camp; as well as two Ray Guy Award Player of the Week selections and an SEC Special Teams Player of the Week award back in October.

Congrats to the GOAT.

Watch him accept his award:

According to the corrupt SEC coaches poll, he’s only 2nd best in the conference, much less the nation.
That poll needs to be banned.

Don’t think he will but punters have declared early before. Don’t know how successful they’ve been come draft night but it happens.

I don’t think we have to worry about that. He has said that the NFL wasn’t his goal. Not that he hasn’t changed his mind, perhaps it is his goal, but I don’t see him making a jump early when he hasn’t been waiting for this all his life.

As said earlier, for the SEC coaches to put him on the 2nd team SEC is a slap in the face of UK. How can he be the best punter in the nation, Ray Guy Award winner, and only 2nd team ??? Regardless of what the coaches say with a camera in their face, this tells the true story of their respect, or lack of, for UK football. Also I thought he could have praised UK, the school, and the coaches he plays for a little more, and stayed away from, “taking the trophy back to Australia”.

If you were from another country what would you say? We as Americans want our citizens to praise our country so why shouldn’t we expect the same from Max? Where else would he be taking it back to?
