Max Duffy signs with the Denver Broncos

Max Duffy is taking his boomstick to Mile High.

Mike Klis reports the former UK punter has signed with the Denver Broncos. Duffy was spotted wearing Tim Tebow’s old No. 15 at Denver’s OTAs.

A former Australian Rules Football player, Duffy starred for the Wildcats during his three seasons in Lexington. Once jokingly referred to as ‘Punter U,’ all jokes were set aside when he became the program’s first Ray Guy Award Winner in 2019.

Despite being one of the top-rated punters available, Duffy went undrafted in April. That could have been a blessing in disguise. Sam Martin signed a three-year deal in 2020, yet the Denver punter ranked just 13th in average yards per punt. Kicking footballs in the thin Colorado air, Duffy might boot one over the Rocky Mountains to solidify his spot on the Broncos’ roster.

Duffy is the fourth former Cat to sign as a free agent this spring, giving the Wildcats 10 NFL players in the 2021 draft class.
