Matt Elam says he’s down to 350 lbs.

@UKStoopsTroops
Matt Elam’s weight has been a hot topic this offseason, and today, Elam was bombarded by questions about his body. Elam said he’s down to 350 lbs. from 375-380 lbs. last season and that he hopes to get down to 335 lbs. by the start of the season.
A flashback to what Elam looked like during his first fall camp two years ago:

If Elam actually makes it to 335, he won’t be the heaviest player in the SEC this season.
Good for him. I hope he’s added strength as well, because last year even though he was heavy he got pushed back off the line quite easily.
I think a lot of that was poor technique and fatigue because he was so out of shape.
Looks like he is back to what he weighed as a freshman.
You trolls are hilarious, Elam should have gotten a redshirt but can’t dwell on what ifs. Great job Matt, keep it up. GO CATS!
Elam did not want to be redshirted and would not have come to UK if he was going to be.
You have no proof of that troll, that has never come out of his mouth. Jesus, the trolls are not just annoying but ignorant as well. If he had gone to Alabama he would have probably redshirted. Stoops was forced through the absolute joke joker was to play the kid because of lack of depth on the D-Line.
He still kind of looks like the love child of Cartman and Kyle from South Park…
That said, hopefully his endurance is much improved this year!
Fat – Fatter – Fat
Needs to get to 315 before he’ll be anywhere near a SEC DT.
FBI Informant,
I know you’re looking at this with just a slight Louisville “bias” (lol!!); but, you’re just a little off on this one, brother! I’ll remind you of a NT that played at Alabama a few years back named Terrence “Mount” Cody! Cody was a two time consensus All-American for the Tide. Although his listed playing weight was right around 365, most people speculated that he was actually closer to about 400 lbs. Cody was a run stopping force in the middle of that 3-4 defense for Alabama. Now, I’m definitely not saying that Elam is in the same ballpark as Cody. He’s not!. But, to suggest that he needs to get down to 315 to play DT in the SEC, is not knowing your college football. Your own team has a DT on its roster listed at 328. Does he need to drop 13 lbs to be able to play DT in the ACC??
You can call him anything except late for dinner.
