Mark Stoops was still asked about the Florida streak

Even though Kentucky snapped the losing streak to Florida, the streak of Mark Stoops being asked about it at SEC Media Days continues.

“Oh, come on now, ” Stoops said when Bob Holt reminded him Kentucky hasn’t beaten Florida in back-to-back seasons since 1976-77.

“How big would it be to start a winning streak against the Gators?” Holt tried agian.

“I’m just going to avoid that question,” Stoops joked before going on a lengthy aside about playing in the Barbasol ProAm with John Daly, a huge Arkansas fan (Holt covers the Razorbacks for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette).

“But you’re throwing me off with these streaks and all that about Florida. I thought I didn’t have to answer that anymore. But to answer your question, every game’s important. And, you know, each and every game, a team in the East, we had Florida at home, it’s an important game, but so are the other 11.”

Personally, I think Stoops should have taken a page out of Josh Allen’s book with his response:

What a great win. One of the best of 2018. The best this year? New Years Day beating Penn State.
