Mark Stoops upset with officials after the game

It’s fair to say the relationship between Mark Stoops and SEC officials is off to a rough start in 2020. Last week it was the Chris Rodriguez TD taken away before the half at Auburn, this week Stoops looked visibly frustrated with more than one call throughout the game.

Afterward, cameras caught Stoops running down officials to have a friendly conversation over a disagreement:

He had some loud words for officials during an injury timeout too:

When asked about his postgame conversation with refs by Jon Hale of the Courier-Journal, Stoops said he was trying to get an explanation about a specific play.

Terry did play better but hard to be a QB with such a poor game IQ. Taking a sack on 4th and throwing it away last week on a 2 pt conversion proves it.

That takes care of us ever getting points again before a game . Glad for that too… we play better as the dog . Terry looked leagues better today. Actually feel good about his future games again. Going for it on 4th 8 in no mans land with game tied and good defense was just straight up a coaching error that cost us . We lost but played a lot better over all – hard one to take ! Uk (players) deserve the w today

So what’s your idea on the 4th down? Kicker awful. Defense getting their arse handed to them. The error was not checking out of the play called AND taking the sack!!

Not the officials fault we lost. We should never put ourselves in the position to get those calls. At the end of the day its on the players and coaches period. Do better you asshats!!!

Mark Stoops needs to quit whining about officiating and focus on elevating this defense. It was atrocious today. Leach and Company have to be salivating coming in next Saturday.

The difference between a good team and a mediocre team is often small things that–taken in total–can make the difference between a win and a loss, an average season or a standout season. I have noticed with Stoops that small, but important aspects of the game sometimes pass him by. He gets it right 70-80% of the time, but that’s not enough to take Kentucky to a high level that will make us truly competitive with the big boys..

Left 11 points in the field, can’t do that and expect to win, we aren’t good enough. No real playmakers

Outside of Vanderbilt, maybe, what team can we beat if we can’t beat Ole Miss? Ole miss will win 2 games this year, Arkansas, and that is it. It was truly an embarrassing performance from all involved.

Fair weather fans? As opposed to UK football history-ignorant fans who just refuse to admit anything is ever wrong? Same story, different coach. One or two good years surrounded by mediocrity. Keep celebrating mediocrity Daniel, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to admit you’re wrong.

Stoops ought to be upset with the man in the mirror and that cardboard cutout he calls an offensive coordinator.

Gran called the right plays. The plays aren’t executed. Wide open receiver missed for a TD. Open receivers, but the TW rainbow pass takes too long to arrive allowing the D to close and prevent first down yardage. Etc., etc. Gran is not the problem.

Seem that a few times as well. Terry seems to not know how to out touch on the ball

We left 17 points on the field, it wasn’t Stoops fault that AJ Rose started celebrating before reaching the endzone. It wasn’t Stoops fault the officials have now TWICE, robbed us of a clear TD when the next play AJ Rose broke the goal line and wasn’t given the TD. INSTEAD, they called a fumble and gave the ball to ole miss., That’s 7, it isn’t Stoops fault, OR Grand, or even Terry Wilson’s that he throws a good pass (Yes slightly under thrown, but any WR that’s better than Mediocre to Average makes the catch) that hits the WR in the chest and bounces to the ground, where if he catches it, that’s another TD, that’s 14!!, Then Ruffalo…. I mean WTF!!?!??! After he missed the field goal and bounced the first extra point off the upright BARELY making it in, Stoops should’ve made the switch to Chance Poore…. I mean I don’t think we’ve ever had a kicker miss that many extra points and not get benched permanently…. I get that our kicking situation isn’t ideal right now, but Ruffalo should’ve been pulled… Terry Wilson played really well outside of the 4th and 8 (Which Josh Ali looked nearly WIDE OPEN, if Wilson would’ve just thrown the ball, we convert, getting the 1st down and most likely score), then the intentional grounding play, I mean…. I don’t get why he didn’t try to scramble and extend the play, if he rolls to the strong side (Looked like he had plenty of room), he would’ve at least been out of the pocket, or even been able to run for the first. Then, on top of leaving 18 points on the field (2 TDs, a field goal and extra point), the horrible officiating was just too much to overcome (Even though we dominated the LOS the ENTIRE game, even in OT, only to miss the extra point, and lose because our kicker missed the equivalent of a layup in football). We SHOULD BE 2-0 and ranked inside of the top-12/15, let’s hope next week we stop shooting ourselves in the foot with self-inflicted mistakes that gives the other team enough of a chance to hang around and win the damn game..

Have to stop shooting ourselves in the foot first. Too many lost opportunities from self inflicted wounds.
