It didn’t take long for Mark Stoops to field a question about the current state of his quarterback position at today’s Governor’s Cup Luncheon. In fact, it was the very first question for Stoops when he took the stage. (Shocker.) He told reporters and lunch-eaters, “You can read between the lines.”
“Patrick Towles has the leg up right now, but we’ll see how that goes,” said Stoops. “We’re certainly going to compete throughout the summer and fall camp.”
Stoops was also asked about the injured Reese Phillips, the third name in the QB race behind Towles and Drew Barker. He hopes to have Phillips back in August from the Achilles injury, but as of now, Phillips is still moving slow and hasn’t been cleared to do anything.
