Mark Stoops “proud” of players for taking a stand in walkout

On Thursday the Kentucky Football players walked out of practice as a symbolic, defiant gesture against racial injustice and police brutality.

Mark Stoops gave the players 100 percent of his support. He stood by their side outside of the Joe Craft Football Training Facility, but he remained silent until after Josh Paschal and Luke Fortner spoke with the media to explain how they reached this decision why they took that course of action. Later Thursday night he shared on Twitter that he’s proud they took a stand to improve their community.

Mark Stoops will break his silence Friday morning at approximately 10:30 am ET in a conversation with Matt Jones on Kentucky Sports Radio.

While I believe they are within their right to walkout, I think a lesson being missed by the UK coaching staff is “wait until all of the information is out before you make a judgement”.

Here’s the deal, because Logic always Prevails. This team has players and coaches who believe Black Lives Matter. This University has a President and an Athletic Director who believe Black Lives Matter. The state has Governor who believes Black Lives Matter. If you don’t believe Black Lives Matter too, then maybe this isn’t the state, University, or team to ‘support’. You should cheer for the school with the team that is all right with citizens getting killed by the police that are hired to protect them.

The issue I have with all this happening in sports is the lack of condemnation for all all the rioting and destruction in these cities, especially the minority businesses. Many people’s livelihoods are being completely destroyed. Sure, there are some rogue police but it doesn’t warrant the mayhem and destruction that’s happening.

You’d be rioting too, if you had been oppressed for 400 years. If you are incapable of complex thought, like empathy, best to keep quiet, so there is still some questions as to your EQ.

When have these athletes been oppressed? Was it when they grew up in a country that allowed them to play a game and get a free education? Is it when they are showered with Nike gear and other free stuff for playing a game? Is it when they are praised for their abilities to play a game? The most oppression people face in this country today is self inflicted. Whether you want to admit it or not there is no place on earth that allows one the opportunity anywhere close to the USA. There is no systemic racism, oppression, or anything close. To claim otherwise is intellectually lazy and a lie. It’s 2020, not 1620. No one alive is responsible for slavery or its impacts. Society has bent over backward, to the point of absurdity, to right past wrongs. It’s time to move on from the tired argument of “oppression”. That’s code for not being responsible for your actions.

Typical liberal. Can’t argue facts so you resort to name calling, personal attacks, and try to shut down opposing views. It’s fascinating when someone posts a comment that isn’t in line with BLM they are automatically called racist. Why does no one argue with facts?

I have plenty of empathy for those business owners, including minorities, who have lost their livelihood and those that have been assaulted trying to defend their property. The rioters, not so much.

I wish these damn athletes would protest children being molested, abducted, innocent black and white people murdered and robbed, women getting raped etc. Far more and I mean far more of those crimes happen everyday than a police office shooting and unarmed individual and not just a black man.

Walking out over a criminal that resisted arrest with a warrant out for him- just ignorance by coaches and players

If he was to leave, that would be a walk out. Him walking out would be ironic. Him stating his position is a protest. You support other protests and the right to do such.

Spoiler – free speech applies to things you disagree with as well as things you agree with.

No he can leave for not supporting the team no matter if he agrees with or not. He has the right to disagree and I actually agree that Blake is a criminal that deserves to be in jail. However I think the cop went way too far by shooting him 7 times. One or twice would of done the job 90% of the time. Shooting him 7 times is way beyond self defense in my opinion. However when you don’t support our team you are a fake fan. You can disagree with the walkout but at least be admirer that the fact that team is stand up for what they believe which is not easy thing for people to do. If you can even do that then you have no business being a member of the BBN and the players have even said that they don’t those people to be fans of them or to friend them on social media. So if that is you then don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

This is all just so painful. Hopefully college athletes not going to practice will finally drive the point home with the police in our country. If a black pedophile with a history of domestic violence prefers to leave with a car full of children instead of being arrested for his active warrants that is HIS DECISION and its white privileged that makes them think they can stand in the way of that.

“Woke” folks aren’t really awake when they ignore the facts. George Floyd died from a drug overdose and was a horrible human being and lifelong criminal. The dude in Kenosha had an arrest warrant out for him because he was an abuser of women and young children and a thief that resisted arrest. Why do we celebrate people like that? Why doesn’t Coach Stoops tell his players to celebrate things done by good people and teach them that criminals, rioters and looters should be put away. These young college football players are our future. Can’t they at least learn the difference between right and wrong while in a school that is paying for their education? I love U.K., but really question what is being taught by Coach Stoops and his staff. Seems like he is just playing the game to keep players happy and appear woke.

It’s became painfully obvious that our UK fan base is way more racist than I ever believed. I have always been told that by my ville friends, and that’s why they and their families never supported UK. While I will always be a fan of UK, I will never defend a big portion of the base. To say George Floyd dies from a drug overdose is an absolute lie.

Typical- you can’t win the argument so you throw out the racist allegation. Just sickening. You probably believe Mr Floyd was an outstanding, law abiding citizen. I have no idea what was in the heart of the cop that held him down. But, I do know Mr Floyd fought the entire time and strongly resisted arrest. I also know he was extremely loaded with drugs.
