It sure wasn’t pretty, but today’s win over Vanderbilt does mark an important milestone in the Mark Stoops Era. The 38-35 victory over the ‘Dores moves Stoops past Paul “Bear” Bryant on Kentucky’s career home wins list.

Most Career Home Wins By A Head Coach, School History

1. 34 Mark Stoops (2013-present)
2. 33 Paul Bryant (1946-53)
3. 32 Jerry Claiborne (1982-89)
T4. 29 Fran Curci (1973-81)
T4. 29 Blanton Collier (1954-61)

It is also Stoops’ 47th win as Kentucky’s head coach, which ties him with Fran Curci on the career wins list:

T4. 41 Jerry Claiborne (1982-89)
T4. 41 Blanton Collier (1954-61)
6. 39 Rich Brooks (2003-09)

This is Stoops’ 23rd SEC win, which puts him in sole possession of second place in the record books:

Not too shabby.

Somehow I believe we would have lost if Vandy had gotten the Onside kick.

Well, he should be. He schedules 7 or 8 home games a year. Playing 8 home games is embarrassing. And beating three MAC teams at home and either Vandy or USC is not that impressive.

You’re not wrong hammer time, but it almost seems like you’re insinuating that only he does that. 7-8 home games is very standard amongst college football, especially in a power 5 conference and even more especially in the SEC. It’s not some anomaly that only Stoops is using. I don’t have a dog in the fight one way or the other as I could not care much less about UK football, but this seems like an unfair thing to use against Stoops. Just like it’s unfair for everyone here complaining non stop about Gran when it’s blatantly obvious, even to a football dummy like me, that Gran isn’t the issue, Stoops handcuffs him on offense just like he has done every OC for him. Again, not arguing, just trying to add some perspective.

All I know we aren’t a total embarrassment in football like we have been in the past!

Stoops has had 12-game seasons the entire time he’s been here. There used to be 10 and then 11-game seasons. Stoops would’ve gotten to this point eventually, but it would’ve taken longer.
