Mark Stoops names Matt Ruffolo starting placekicker

Mark Stoops has picked a placekicker.

On Monday night’s call-in show Kentucky’s head coach revealed that Matt Ruffolo will handle field goal kicking duties this fall. He beat out Chance Poore in the preseason competition. Poore will be used as a kickoff specialist.

A senior from Archbishop Alter in Centerville, Oh., in 2019 the Spicy Italian Meatball hit 4-of-5 field goals and 18-of-20 PATs in seven games. Ruffolo set a career-long with a 50-yard bomb against Arkansas.

And he should. Poore needs to enter the transfer portal.

We should’ve know with a name like Chance Poore he wouldn’t be kicking field goals. It just reeks of foreboding.
