Mark Stoops: “I’m ticked off”

Screen Shot 2015-10-31 at 11.29.10 PM

Mark Stoops was visibly frustrated in his postgame press conference, as he should be. He said he is “ticked off” about his team’s 31-point home loss to Tennessee.

“It was not very good football,” he said of the Cats’ effort. “It’s not acceptable. It’s not okay.”

Stoops said he told his team he doesn’t want to see any finger pointing, moping or hanging heads moving forward.

“Man up and get better.”

He should be mad at himself. This is 2 years in a row we have fallen apart as the season went along rather than get better as well coached teams do. He is likely to go 6-6 this year which will get us to a bowl game. I don’t know that the record will be any better next year but we need to at least see a coherant product on the field as this year’s team is far from that. We have had terrible lapses in quality of play and bizarre coaching maneuvers in every game this year except for Missouri.

Most likely to go 4-8 or 5-7.This team the way they are playing think any game is not an easy win now.Georgia will take them to cleaners and then vandy.Stoops screwed up,should have played Louisville first game maybe could have beaten them then but not now

The breakdown tonight is the fault of the whole coaching staff, if you want to really call them coaches. Someone name one coach on this team that deserves the job they got.

I blame this on the guy that put him there.
If this was the basketball team, the AD would have been fired.
If this were any other school in the SEC, the AD would have been fired with Joker, the coach in waiting.

It was the basketball team at one time. Cal lost to me in the 1st round of the NIT and lost the title last year with a 9 deep NBA team. That’s coaching.

No wonder Spurrier quit.At least he could’nt stand getting beat by mediocrity.

Miami isn’t recruiting this clown…..why would they? This is hype planted by Barnhardt and his bunch in an attempt to make you think UK has something really valuable in Stoops and to save face. You UK fans just keep feeding out of the same ole shit bucket.

This loss isn’t a surprise as UT should have beaten an Oklahoma team that is a legitimate top 15 team and pushed Alabama. UT is 21 points (with wins) away from being undefeated this year and have a lot more talent.
Mark Stoops and Butch Jones started at their current positions the same year but rebuilding UT and rebuilding UK are totally different jobs.
Also, Jones has been a head coach since 2007 while this is Stoop’s first head coaching job which also plays a huge role in where these programs are right now. There is still a possible bowl game but UK is going to have to commit to Stoops for a long time in order to become a top program.

This is the toughest league to learn how to be a head coach with very young players.

Recruiting keeps improving as the 2014 class has many more contributors than the 2013 class and the 2015 class appears to be very promising with a bunch of kids already playing.

I agree with what you are saying but I also expect the team to look well coached in Stoop’s third year. They do not. This has the look of Joker all over again. The fans are going to stop going to the games and empty seats at CWS after all the money they spent will get Stoops fired.

Bige all you’ve done is build a case for why Stoops should have never been hired. The only person more incompetent than him in the athletic department is Barnhart.
I think it’s funny that Barnhart stated that two requirements he was looking for were head coaching experience and SEC experience…of which Stoops has neither.

I’m now certain that Stoops is not going to win big here. He’s just not cut out for it yet. He and Vince Marrow can recruit well, but Stoops’s lack of head coaching experience has really showed. If we are going to allow Stoops to learn on the job, then he needs very capable coordinators.

Mitch Barnhart: Please force Mark to fire both Elliott and Dawson and bring in capable coordinators with proven experience. He needs them.

When are we getting started bro?
As Halloween ended late Saturday night, it was not the Trick or Treaters who were afraid but the Big Blue Nation. Afraid that the hype machine may be nothing more than the Wizard of Oz. Facilities upgrade? Check. National relevant on recruiting (for now)? Check. Plenty O’ Hypedness? Check. On the field progress?…….
To quote Johnny Short “it was not a Jim Dandy of a game”. I would dare say my man Chester may have even thought a negative comment or two.
James Franklin won back to back 9 games, that’s NINE games at Vanderbilt, that’s VANDERBILT. You know the no fan support, academic restrictive, facility garbage dump down 65 West? Yes that Vanderbilt. That was in year two and three of his three years at Vandy, and I’m not sure he had as much interest (or pay raises) as Stoops has for his nearly three. Oh yea, the league is as down as ever (particuarly the East) and we have 8, that’s EIGHT home games! I’m sure we are going bowling and that is a step in the right direction, I’m just wondering what kind of started Stoops was talking about.
Was it starting to play better on special teams? Starting to be “fun to watch” like stated in the opening press conference? Starting to not get shalacked by the non power SEC foes?
Cat fans just want to see this team get “started” backing up all the hype with better on field execution. Let’s get “started” finishing seasons strong. Let’s get “started” not allowing 50 a game in a season to an SEC or any opponent. That is why we went the “tough, defensive-minded” route right? And let’s get “started” with better play on the field. I’m guessing that all that hard work recruiting just to have another embarrassing loss on TV is like fasting all week just to nail two large Meat Lover’s Pizza’s on Saturday night…it negates the progress. Let’s get started Bro!

Tennessee is just that good folks. Like a previous poster suggested they have been in a position to win every game they’ve played. Yes our performance was putrid but the real test comes with the remaining schedule. The verdict on Stoops coaching ability will be made from here out. Win 2-3 more games and save face with a bowl game but anything less and the BBN has cause for concern.

That is what to expect anymore. This team was beaten by Eastern Kentucky only to win on the scoreboard.

Offensive play calling and scheme is idiotic. You have to either get a set of big boys on the offensive line and run the ball, or spread it out and chuck it to not allow their big boy defensive line to stop your run or kill you on a pass rush.

Defense is this HC’s specialty. Teams are regularly scoring in high numbers on this unit. What gives?

End of game, standard answer. Well if your not good enough or it’s not acceptable, let someone who is good enough make it acceptable.

Your mad, think of the fans. If you and your coaches are “coaching” the players are not listening. Time to play some people that want to be on the field. They will make mistakes but it could hardly get worse than it is right now. Who knows, a little bench time may motivate some of them.

Will someone please get Towles eyes checked. He has got to be color blind. Don’t give me that O line crap. He continues to miss wide open receivers even when he has protection. Looks like the players around him have quit on him.
