MacGinnis kicked the game-winner with a leg cramp

Austin MacGinnis’ game-winning kick cleared the crossbar by about two yards, enough for the score, but it wasn’t all he had. MacGinnis said after the game he didn’t get the “pop” he wanted on the ball because he was battling a cramp in his calf.

“Honestly, my calf was cramping, so I was just praying it was going to get there,” he said after the game. “Once it got there, both my legs cramped, so everyone’s running to me and I’m just trying to stay up and not fall down.”

MacGinnis also talks about his pep talk from Boom Williams and what it’ll be like for him on campus next week:

Anyone who’s played football has to roll his eyes at kicker cramping during a night game in the fall.
