Bowden and the rest of the team came to play, it’s the COACHES that screwed the pooch in this one.

    1. 4everUKBlue

      Nailed it!

    2. Redpup

Right on! Coaches are too stubborn to try throwing the ball with Smith! It’s embarrassing!

    3. mashburnfan1

Yes this is on the coaches, that said Bowden was selfish and I said it at halftime he has to pitch it more. Maybe it is just because he is not use to playing QB, that could be the case but it does appear to be that he tries to do it all by himself. He had open WR’s on a couple pass plays yet scrambled and ran. A few times, including last play, the correct read was pitch and he did not. I am not blaming him, is Grans fault with play calling, but that is how it looks. We have a better chance to score with Smith at QB and a RB breaking long run or Bowden breaking something at WR, punt return or kick return. We lose all those options with him at QB.

  2. BigBlue4Three

    Wahhhh. Somebody call a wambulance.

    1. 4everUKBlue

You probably thought that was cool when you hit send. What an idiot!

    2. nocode96

Lol. In case I haven’t said it over the years, I’m a big fan 4ever!

  3. runningunnin.454

Lynn should talk to the coaches; I’ve seen the coaches lay down in the 2nd half; but, the 2nd quarter?
Did they really think 13 points would hold up?

    1. dbcline1

It appears that way! Pathetic. WTG BOWDEN!!!!

    2. 4everUKBlue

      Agreed!

  4. Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert

Thug life cries about the fans every time they lose.

    1. dcforuk

Go suck your pacifier Eddie! Really, go suck it some more! He has way more passion that you will ever have unless you go in a different direction, which I doubt you will!

    2. dcforuk

      You are the thug!

    3. catsarerunnin

      Gilbert Grape is a weenie.

    4. 4everUKBlue

Hot stuff is an idiot, I’d love to see you say that to Bowden’s face.

  5. Willis talkin bout....

Instead of complaining about fans. Why not demand more from your coaches. Stoops makes 5 million a year to win football games. They have 5, I repeat 5 QB on the roster. That are on scholarship to play the position. Bowden did a great job when asked. But he can’t throw. He is not a QB. If they can’t get one of the other 4 able bodied QBs ready to play in a month. Then they are failing the team and the fans. This isn’t pop warner where people coach for free. 5 million a year… and you are still refusing to make adjustments. Your still playing a WR at QB. Your still running Rose up the middle. How is it everyone watching these games see it. But the ones that are paid to figure out the best way to win games can’t. Bowden is a tremendous athlete. Great heart and talent. But he is not a QB. Rose is the 3rd best RB on the roster. Jesus everyone knows it…

    1. dcforuk

Demand more from your coaches? Foolishness!

    2. dcforuk

In other words, what jyou talkin bout Willis?

    3. DelrayCat

      Willis speaks 100% the truth.
      Bowden aint a QB.
Rose is 3rd RB at best.
Stoops is a piss poor game plan coach. Great recruiter. Very good developer of talent. Piss poor offensive-oriented coach.

    4. catsarerunnin

The sun is coming up DC which means the sun always comes out tomorrow.

    5. pappageorgio

      Well said Willis!

    6. mashburnfan1

Good point, they said Gilmore was not ready but they have had over a month to get him ready. IF he can throw at all why was that not the plan. He can also run so has to be a better option than using Bowden and taking away our threat of scoring through the air, punt return and kick return.

    7. makeitstop

There is a group of us who hv been saying that for weeks: u can’t are taking an NFL caliber WR and kick returner out of the game and making him a sandlot QB. Bc he’s the athlete he is, against bad teams, he’s been able to run 200 yards/game and we’ve won despite a lack of passing, but it’s not an actual plan bc he’s not an actual QB. It’s a bandaid. When 1 engine fails the second one is to land with not fly with! They knew QB was out for the year and apparently Scalzo was QB3, also out bf season started. If u can’t get a scholarship QB ready to play QB in the 8 weeks since then ur not trying or ur the worst talent scout in the South. I don’t hv to see them in practice to know that, it’s a truism.

  6. dcforuk

That is why I love the way you play Lynn! I love that passion! I love your fight! I love how you stick up for your mates……..your teammates and your coaches! Thank you for that passion and thank you Coach Stoops for broad shoulders and for building a culture of no excuses, ownership, toughness and fighting for and with each other. Go get another bag of potato chips and get your video game pacifier and go suck it some more haters! Seriously, go suck it some more! Learn from these kids who have heart and fight. I stand with you Lynn! And, we stand with your fight and your coaches’ fight. I will say it loud and clear one more time in my mind but won’t write it here. _______ ___ ________!

    1. 4everUKBlue

I agree with everything you said dc. I’m with you all the way LBJ. Come see about it!

  7. UKCatAttack

It’s Stoops and Company I’m mad at not the college kids. The boys gave good effort the coaches laid an egg.

  8. njcat54

Kid’s not too bright if he thinks people are frustrated with the players. Can someone please fill him in?

    1. dcforuk

I love that he takes all the negative talk about him, his mates and his leaders personal. Shows the fight that he has. I guaranty you that he is hearing negative opinions directly about his play and decision-making. You have made an invalid assumption!

    2. 4everUKBlue

nj you’re the not so bright one. Bowden is a warrior.

    3. mashburnfan1

NJ it is what is being yelled at the game.

  9. BamaBlue

I guess everyone still thinks Stoops leaves for Florida State huh ? Lol. Can’t even beat a 4 win Tennessee team at home with a 13 point lead. What a joke. Give that man another 20 million and a ten year extension

    1. dcforuk

Here is hoping that he does NOT leave for Florida St! He should leave all of the negativity he receives from (mostly) guys whose heads are full of knuckles like you!

    2. Wade

I would say if he ever leaves it’s for Youngstown state

    3. DelrayCat

People who have spent thousands and thousand of dollars over the years to dutifully support this program just sometimes need to vent when all they have known is mediocrity at best. I will say this, the last few years have given us hope that Stoops & Company actually have something going here…and it just burns even more to see them reverting back to the UK teams of old. Blowing games they should have won along with perpetual 4 and 5 win seasons. Personally, I’d rather see anger than apathy.

    4. catsarerunnin

      Yes anger solves everything…

    5. dcforuk

Good response re anger vs apathy part!

  10. CatsfaninFL

Serious question… but maybe… just maybe.. Lynn has been our chance to win. QB1 and 3 are out for the season. QB2 gave us 3 good quarters and then got injurred and played awful sometime over the next 2.25 games. We literally couldn’t move the ball on the same USC team that got trucked by this UT team. Also, he showed up on the team at the end of the year and has less team play as most of our freshman. Maybe QB 4 is coming off shoulder surgery and just not able to muscle the ball the way he needs to.

Maybe WR1/QB5 is our best option and the coaches who see 2, 4, and 5 everyday know more than those of us fans who like to coach from a couch.

I get it. Losing sucks. I hate UT more than anyone. My wife and I literally wrote our mutual hatred of UT into our wedding vows. But this year went from potentially great to sketchy the moment that patellar tendon snapped. And maybe earlier when the real QB2 busted out to OSU.

The speed at which our “fans” have jumped ship after the best UK football season in my 39 years of life makes me honestly feel the same as Lynn. Keep gettin after it, players!

    1. DelrayCat

This was actually a very well-reasoned post. You might be more correct than people like me realize.

    2. makeitstop

Yes we’ll reasoned but it doesn’t let the coaches off the hook. First, I don’t buy that Smith wasn’t the best option for the second half bc he can throw it, but that aside, UT played it’s 3rd string and 2nd string guy, so did Florida so did USC and on and on. If we only hv one guy – WR1 – who can play that sure as he’ll isn’t my fault or urs it’s the guys paid to recruit and develop QBs, which thus far has resulted in zero drafted, signed or still in football.

    3. CatsfaninFL

That has got to be the worst arguement ever makeitstop. Why haven’t they developed QB4?! Why can’t QB2 pick up the offense flawlessly after 3 months on campus? They can’t force players to stay.

Coach Saban doesn’t have anyone better than a banged up Tua? Did he not recruit and develop.

I’m not saying our coaching staff is perfect. But none is. And we should know by now what ours is. A conservative, hard nosed staff that have built quite a defensive team and just needs key offensive players to get injurred and we have the best recipe for success at UK in my lifetime. I just don’t want to see our fanbase run off a staff after 1 year of what we have never seen and an injury riddled season. Talk about trying to get a decent coach after that.

    4. 4everUKBlue

CatsfaninFL, I agree with you 100%. As you can tell BBN has a bunch of unreasonable followers not fans, nothing is ever enough for them, even last season there were a bunch of cry babies. I stand with my team. Go Big Blue, Go Cats! Come see about it!

    5. makeitstop

Catsfan, I’m not sure I follow you here. My point is that injuries have happened around the league (and incidentally not just QB’s) and other teams cope better than we have, which we know bc we have been beaten by 4 backup QB’s (UF, MSU, USC, and UT.) We lost a good freshman who might have been able to step in, but who knows, and we lost our starter. Our back-up was injured but is now back. If he’s so inadequate that even healthy, he isn’t as good an option as our wide receiver, then that is a reflection on our recruiting choices or player development, is it not? I’m not trying to be a [email protected] but seriously, whose responsible for player development and recruiting? KSR? Us? Nope. I do not buy that the development, conditioning and recruiting are that bad – Smith played very well against good competition at Troy and for us bf being hurt – if he is healthy, and I trust that he is (are they lying) then he HAD to be a better option that what got us zero points in the half bc by my measure, you can’t lose points (you can miss out on them like we did w/ the underthrow) but you can’t get less than zero, so by definition, it HAD to be a better option, right?

  11. kjd

This loss lies at the feet of Coach Stoops. Period. All options/players were not utilized to win this game. Very sad for the players.
To Bowden, fans aren’t saying anything the recruits aren’t seeing. The last play at the goal line, you made the wrong decision. Rodriguez was the best option for the score. You looked like a glory seeker.

    1. dcforuk

“You looked like a glory seeker.” Really? You are an armchair fool. I would rather be a winner and a fighter and a competitor than a second-guessing armchair fool! Period! Or, should I say exclamation mark!

    2. kjd

Stoops stated post game, Rodriguez was the better option, but wasn’t going to question Bowden choice. It’s foolish not to trust your teammates.

    3. 4everUKBlue

Emphasis on fool, I thought Bowden should have had the ball the play before that. I want the ball in the hands of the man who is a warrior and has done all that he has done. kjd has proven to be an idiot many times before this comment, he hasn’t gotten any smarter.

    4. makeitstop

Bowden knows he’s the best player on the field – I don’t think for one minute it was about glory seeking, it was a bad decision based on him being more confident in his own ability than his teammates’. It was the wrong call for the right reason and I don’t fault him for it, but a more seasoned QB reads the defense and pitches. A goof pitch and a clean catch and we score… of course a poor pitch and a bad angle, and we’re stopped. My beef is that after dominating in the first half we didn’t adjust to stacking the box and crashing down on the box from the safety position by throwing Smith in and letting him take some of those shots. Other teams do it w/ success – UF alternated Emory Jones in w/ Trask bc neither of them is great on their own and they hung 49 on Vandy, We will be lucky to score 17 w/ one man does it all football, it’s just too much to ask.

  12. dcforuk

I am sure some fans are being negative towards Bowden. I have already read some such comments myself that are negative toward Bowden’s judgment and other comments that are simply derogatory towards Bowden. Period! Or, should I say exclamation mark!

    1. 4everUKBlue

Education is not a priority for some, just have to consider the source.

  13. notFromhere

Right there with you, Lynn Bowden. Fk a buncha that! Get another team and stop acting like you’re a fan of UK Football. Damn sick of it. Most unappreciative bunch of pss n boots, whiners…. tired of the small percentage of entitled POSes that can’t support ANYTHING 100% for an entire season. Stfu and let the REAL FANS of this football program build the team up.

Speak UP BBfootballFans! Drown out the haters before the douchebags ruin it for everyone else

    1. 4everUKBlue

      Hell yeah!

  14. Slam242424

Easy Bowden and others. Fans that put up with a less than average program pay for them tickets. Many just might heed your advice.

    1. dcforuk

If you build it (passion, intensity, competitiveness), they will come. Quit being so conservative! Embrace his passion Slam. Cmon. Seriously! Cheer on such fire.

  15. Cousins Fake Tooth

Then maybe put a better product on the field instead of a shit one?

    1. 4everUKBlue

      Get an education.

    2. Bluehender

      And get off the meth..

  16. makeitstop

Well, that’s the kind of things kids say to adults when they are still young enough to know everything. Lynn gives us everything he has and is one tough hombre but he’s also not an SEC QB (or any power 5 league) and no amount of gimmickry will cover that up forever. They adjusted, we didn’t, simple as that. But after 50+ years of rooting for these guys, starting at Stoll Field, they cured me last night. My kid and my money go to SMU and they’re fun to watch; I went to UVa and they’re fun to watch; and my wife’s a gator fan so I hv options. Looks like Friday’s and Tuesday’s for a while until this [email protected]! Show is over, and I’ll take Lynn’s advice and pick it up again when the coaching changes and there is some semblance of hope for a better product. It’s supposed to be entertainment after all. That’s why God made remote controls I guess.

    1. madarchitect

So you have the option to root for Florida? Bye Felecia!

    2. makeitstop

No, Mad, you just go watch a better product. I don’t really have an NFL team, I’m a Bengals Fan, so I watch the best game on and enjoy the game and if it isn’t good, I don’t get upset about it, I just change the channel or get out of the house. Enjoyed the ‘Bama v LSU game yesterday immensely, and weirdly decided I was actually for LSU at some point, but wouldn’t have killed me either way. Just good football. Something we haven’t seen this season and I finally figured out of I stop banging my head against the wall it will stop hurting. And actually, I really do enjoy the way SMU plays, they have an old Hal Mumme assistant as HC and by God they are never out of it, if only they had a kicker.

    3. Soylentbeans

      Bye..

  17. ScoggDog

Sounds like a great idea, honestly. Until the Stoops/Gran hive mind moves on, I’m done.

    1. Soylentbeans

      Dont come back.

  18. JPhelps

This is what happens when you tell people, “We aren’t taking a step back”, then you take 2.

I’m sorry Lynn, but this is bigger than you. You can’t possibly understand because you’ve only seen 3 of these games. You’ve not been there for years and years and years of the same tired excuses after the same types of losses. We aren’t holding you responsible. But it’s hard to root for a team who perrenially disappoints you. Again, not Lynn’s fault.

    1. dcforuk

      Pre-Wilson injury stmt

    2. Soylentbeans

Damn you were disappointed last year?

    3. JPhelps

Losing 1 player shouldn’t derail a good team like it did us. Look at Florida. Good teams don’t lose their absolute playing ability after losing 1 guy. You know what kind of teams do? Pretenders. Kentucky, as bad as I hate to say it, coming off of a 10-win season was a pretender that had to have everything go right again for us to win 8-9 games. It didn’t… In a big way. And guess what? We got exposed as pretenders… Does that mean we will suck again next year? No. But the schedule gets immensely harder next year.

We took major steps back this year. And truth is, everyone has injuries. And whether or not you have injuries, that 7 win bet still hangs there. It was never going to be easy money, even with Wilson. And 2, when he went down, you got to see the real truth. Sorry about that.

  19. TomKat9698

Hot stuff my ass! You’re nothing but a old, lonely sorry POS!

  20. TomKat9698

    Later Dog!!!

    1. Soylentbeans

      Bye

  21. just a guy

When players start calling out fans, it only shows the team is pizzed off too, but can’t verbalize it like they want to. When you lose, and look terrible doing it, the fans will boo. We’re not booing the players, we’re booing the crappy game plan, the punting before the half, the lack of adjustments. We ain’t mad at you Lynn, and I got feeling you ain’t really mad at us either

  22. BlueBanker18

Bowden and the team have my respect, but our coaching staff? That’s a different story.

  23. bd2153

I am. Tried of same old play calling. No offense just run run run. Eight passes hell per wee passed more than. That.

  24. cathatter

the real question is: what did Gatewood have to say after the game?

    1. makeitstop

He prolly said if these fools are still coaching next year, with the line they hv, I can start here easily.

  25. Rytstuf

Lynn should just play.We surely are entitled to voice our discontent.

    1. 4everUKBlue

Lynn did just play, you did not so you don’t know what it’s like so STFU!

    2. dcforuk

You absolutely are and would never try and take that away because we can’t. He is entitled to do the exact same thing you are doing……..to vent!

  26. WKY Cat

Where’s all the Eddy Gran supporters? Lol

    1. 4everUKBlue

He looked good for most of the first half, but then….

    2. JPhelps

But then… The true Eddie Gran showed up. Never fails. When the team wins, it’s not because of Gran. Ever. It’s usually because we executed on defense and the offense played well enough not to lose. When we lose, it’s because the offense sucked. The defense usually shows up. It’s the offense that always falters. And when you have that, you need a coordinator change.

  27. shelby3605

Lynn needs to tell stoops that he is a WIDE RECEIVER!! Sawyer is healthy lets put our GREAT wide receiver back in his natural position. I love lynn, but he’s hurting his pro potential by playing QB.

  28. StuckinLville

Sorry Lynn but fans have every right to be mad. You cant throw the ball and your coaches dont help you out.

  29. eyebleedblue

I don’t understand why the game plan wasn’t to alternate Quarterbacks. People have said the team wants Lynn at QB, but since when do college coaches care what the players want? Cal over here taking votes on who starts? I love Stoops and Bowden, but switch it up and you win the game. One dimensional running in the red zone isn’t high percentage.

  30. AshtonTheGOAT

We have the worst fan base in football instead of complaining we should problem be cheering them as hard as we can

  31. IndianaSucks

    Good for him!

  32. Big Sexy

Lynn when you support a team through decades of bad football, watch them go 2-33 against one of their biggest rivals, blow the last two as a better team, then you can lecture the fan base on not getting upset.

For the record, I blame Stoops for the last two loses against Tennessee, not player’s effort. Stoops has put this offense behind the 8 ball the last two games against them.

  33. wildcats8

Anyone who wants to tell me we wouldn’t have beaten 1 of Florida, miss state, or South Carolina without Lynn needs to lay off the moonshine. We do not have a capable player at the quarterback position he is the best we have got so you’re either all in with Lynn or find another team simple as that. If Sawyer “Sorry” Smith was our best option he’d be starting quarterback.

    1. Big Sexy

Or just maybe our head coach makes poor decisions when it comes to QBs. Looking back through his tenure here a very good argument could be made that’s the case.

  34. TomKat9698

Doesn’t help things, when 2 backups leave the team before the season starts!

    1. BluKudzu

But it does hurt when the others are not prepared to play.
