What a day for Lynn Bowden. First, the junior wide receiver represented Kentucky at SEC Media Days. Now, he’s on the preseason watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the most outstanding receiver, regardless of position, in college football by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.
Last season, Bowden broke the school record for most receptions (67) by a sophomore, surpassing Derek Abney’s 66 from 2001. He led Kentucky in catches, receiving yards (745) and touchdown receptions (five) and hauled in the most catches in a season since Randall Cobb’s 84 in 2010.
So far this preseason, Bowden has been named to Athlon Sports’ Preseason All-Southeastern Conference Second-Team as a receiver and Third-Team as a return specialist. He needs only 45 receiving yards to become the 30th player in school history to reach 1,000 for their career. Judging by Mark Stoops’ comments today, that won’t be an issue.
“He’s a dynamic play maker,” Stoops said. “We have to make sure we get him the football because he can create some points, create explosive plays. And again, we’re working hard around him.”
The 2019 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 12, 2019, at the College Football Hall of Fame on The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
