Lucas Witt leaves football behind

When Kentucky begins its run for a BCS National Championship on Saturday, Lucas Witt will not be out on the field to take part in the journey. Witt decided to hang up the pads for good, leaving behind a UK football career of almost three months. The former LCA star played two seasons with the baseball team before switching to football early in the summer to try his hand at wide receiver. Now we’ll never know what could’ve been.

Good luck to Lucas in whatever he moves on to next, whether it be UK basketball, the MLS, professional badminton or being a regular college student.

The last time I saw his name was on KSR when they announced he was going to play football. I guess it did not pan out…

Let’s see, days spent playing scout team receiver and going over the middle to be lit up by by Marcus McWilson … Nah, I’ll just shag some fly balls.

Lucas is one hell of an athlete, He’s a gentleman on and off the field, and I know he will be a success wherever he goes in life. He was the best gotdamn football player that LCA had ever seen and he will be the most successful out of all of his peers. I’d let him date my daughter or make love to my wife. Lucas we will miss you!
