Lexington football star Dekel Crowdus cuts list, includes Kentucky

One of the nation’s top football recruits and arguably the top in-state prospect in Kentucky has included the Wildcats in his list of final ten schools.

This afternoon, four-star wide receiver and Frederick Douglass standout Dekel Crowdus announced his finalists, with Kentucky joining Baylor, Louisville, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Texas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and South Carolina making the cut.

This was the in-state prospect’s announcement:

Crowdus, listed at 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, is considered the No. 210 prospect overall and No. 1 in the state of Kentucky in the ESPN recruiting rankings. The four-star wide receiver is also the No. 245 overall recruit and No. 43 at his position in the 2021 247Sports Composite Rankings.

A potential added bonus to this news? Jager Burton, a fellow four-star in-state standout and Frederick Douglass teammate, wrote on his Twitter page on Wednesday evening that he was a “package deal” with Crowdus at the next level.

Burton is considered a consensus top-200 prospect in the nation and, like Crowdus, one of the top recruits in the state. For obvious reasons, both four-star recruits are major (and arguably top) priorities for the Kentucky football program in the class of 2021.

While his junior highlight tape isn’t readily available in its entirety, you can check out Crowdus’ sophomore tape below:

Come on down.

Hope these boys stay at home like the Big Dog. Cats will be losing 3 Seniors on the Big Blue Wall this year, and possibly Kinnard to the draft as a Junior. Jager is a must land prospect. Joey Gatewood would be throwing the ball to DC. Donut will be in the backfield and/or slot. CATS will be loaded! If we land these boys and some others…we will be kicking down the door to ATL!

Oh man. You’re right. I didn’t think about losing so much from the O-line! Luckily, Stoops has been reloading the past few seasons. Hopefully, he’s got guys ready to get major minutes this season so we go into next season with some veterans.

The fact that he added Louisville to this list probably proves he is adding the hometown schools fully knowing he is going out of state.

The simple fact that his nickname is “Flash” should tell you all you need to know about this kid!
