Landon Young named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week

Kentucky’s Landon Young picked up his team’s first SEC Player of the Week honor of the season as he was picked as the league’s Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against Eastern Michigan.

In that convincing Week 2 victory in Lexington, Young led the team with seven knockdown blocks and 24 blocks at the point of attack, while grading out at a 91 percent overall. The SEC’s news release also notes Young had a knockdown block on UK’s first rushing touchdown and point of attack blocks on the other two rushing scores.

As for the rest of the Players of the Week around the conference, LSU’s Joe Burrow earned Offensive Player of the Week honors; linebacker Nick Bolton brought the Defensive Player of the Week award to Mizzou; LSU’s placekicker won Special Teams Player of the Week for his perfect 3-for-3 evening at Texas; Auburn’s Marlon Davidson won Defensive Lineman of the Week; and Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral took Freshman of the Week for his role in the Rebels’ win over Arkansas.
