KSR’s Top Ten Plays of 2014: #1

Top 10 Plays of 2014

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us, but unfortunately it’s without Kentucky football.  Just because the Cats aren’t Bowling, doesn’t mean they didn’t dramatically improve during Mark Stoops’ second season.  Here’s the best of the best.         #10 #9 #8 #7 #6 #5 #4 #3 #2

Bud, For The Win

All of the angst and anxiety of the Big Blue Nation was unleashed against South Carolina, creating a perfect climate for a climactic comeback.

A blacked-out crowd and a chrome-domed team were the result of a week of hype.  They fell flat on their face early, trailing 14-0 and 38-24 in the 4th quarter, but this isn’t your typical Kentucky football.  Jojo Kemp put the team on his back in the Wildcat, until he needed to be carried off the field on somebody’s back, only to return a play later to get his 3rd touchdown of the game, tying the game at 38.  There was still a chance for them to fail, but Bud Dupree wasn’t walking away without a win.

We couldn’t get Bud to a bowl, but one Kentucky’s greatest pass rushers of all-time will forever have this play.  It’s the first great moment in Commonwealth Stadium under Mark Stoops, and the last before a New Era opens in a New Commonwealth Stadium in 2015.  There’s been a lot of magical moments in Commonwealth, but none more fulfilling than Bud’s Pick 6 For the Win.

A big thanks to YouTube’s Wildcat Touchdowns and SDS for the Highlights.  Who knows, we might have some Honorable Mentions to get to later on.
