KSR Preps Recap : Defense carries Central to huge 37-6 win over Boyle

KSR Preps Game of the Week

Central 37 Boyle County 6

Kendrick Talley set the tone early in this one, on Boyle’s first play from scrimmage he forced a fumble that was recovered by Luke Bowman and ran 13 yards into the end zone. The Central defense came to play forcing 5 Boyle County turnovers in rout to a blowout win.

Boyle County could not consistently move the ball down the field on offense as the Central defense put a lot of pressure on Boyle’s quarterback Sam Tiller all night forcing him into two interceptions. Boyle’s only score came late in the fourth quarter.

Central was led on the offensive side of the ball by star running back Corey Johnson, he finished with 181 yards and 4 touchdowns. Johnson started slow only gaining 28 yards in the first half but exploded out of halftime carrying his team with physical runs.

Boyle County has struggled all season long turning the ball over and it was a big reason why their season was ended last night. Every time it seemed like Boyle County was on their way to a touchdown the Central defense made a big play. The Boyle County rushing attack was limited to 116 yards compared to 218 for Central .

Central will travel to Lexington next Friday to play Lexington Catholic for a regional championship.
