Kentucky’s NFL Free Agency Signings

Five Kentucky Wildcats heard their name called in the NFL Draft. As for the other draft-eligible prospects, just because they didn’t get picked, doesn’t mean they will not make a team.

Some of the best to ever play the game were undrafted free agents: James Harrison, Warren Moon, Antonio Gates, Kurt Warner, Tony Romo and Rod Smith just to name a few. Over the next 72 hours numerous players will ink deals to give them an NFL training camp opportunity. Here’s who has made moves so far:

  • Chris Westry (CB) reportedly signs with the Dallas Cowboys.
  • Dorian Baker (WR) tweets that he is signing with the Cleveland Browns

  • CJ Conrad (TE) has signed with the New York Giants

  • Bunchy Stallings (OL) will be signing with the Jaguars, joining Josh Allen in Jacksonville

  • Derrick Baity (CB) will join Lonnie Johnson in Houston with the Texans

  • **NEW: Darius West (safety) has signed a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Original reports had him joining the Giants, but the former Cat will actually be headed west for training camp (no pun intended).

This post will be updated as players agree to deals with NFL teams.

When Chris was a freshmen he looked destined to be a first round pick. I think he’ll be able to prove himself as a valuable player on an NFL roster

I think Jordan Jones & Darius West were completely overlooked players… and hope they bring their A games to the right NFL camps.

I am not the smartest when it comes to this, but I am surprised that CJ Conrad wasn’t drafted. Is anyone else?

CJ’s medical scare caused teams to shy away from using a draft pick on him but he’ll end up on a team most definitely

It’s literally NOTHING but preconceived opinions on why we didn’t have more than 5 players drafted. Most people still hear Kentucky football and don’t give us much credit, but that’s B.S. and nothing more. Darius West, CJ Conrad, Bunchy Stallings, Jordan Jones, and Derrick Baity all should have been drafted, and are better than 3/4 of the players taken from rounds 3 to 7… I think if West would have been able to play all 4 years, instead of just 2 due to his injuries, he wouldn’t have fell past the 3rd round. A thumper who loves to hit, good balls skills and 4.3 speed to cover ground, reminds be of Bob Sanders that played for Indy way back, ju s hope he doesn’t get injured the same. Baity was one of the best corners in the SEC this past season, good speed but doesn’t get a look? He was better than Lonnie Johnson was, has great size and cover skills… Conrad was as good or better than any TE drafted.. If Jones can keep his head on straight, he has all the tools to play in the pros… just worried he’ll end up looking it in practice or something…. UK should be celebrating 9 to 10 draft picks…..

At one time CJ Conrad looked potentially like a first round pick. Then Stoops and Terry Wilson happened. Two years ago it seemed unfathomable that he would not even be drafted.

Exactly if he would have went to any other College that would have used him the right way… Not just as a glorified OL that occasionally tried to throw him a pass… He would have been drafted for sure… UK def hurt his stock and also his health scare at the combine… But if not for the health scare I think somebody def takes a chance on him anyway… Despite Stoops and Gran inability to properly use him… I ain’t quite sure I agree that he was as good a tight end or football player than the first 3 TE taken but I def think he was as good as any TE selected in rounds 4-7

CJ Conrad to the Giants, 1 of 5 teams eligible to be featured on Hard Knocks. How awesome would it be to watch CJ compete for a spot on HBO?

Where did Baity sign? I can’t believe he didn’t get drafted?

I am surprised Chris Westry at his size and after his 40 time on UKs pro day that somebody didn’t select him.. Just based on his size and possible potential that somebody didn’t take a flyer on him in round 6 or 7… he may have never exactly lived up to expectations here but man he looks like an NFL player

I ain’t confused am I he did run a 4.3 40 at UKs pro day.. Right??? Or at least that is what I was thinking

All 6 should’ve been drafted. I think if Baker takes his “Cool” off, he has every possible gift you need to be a great WR. Size, speed, and hands to make unbelievable catches. If he only focuses on making the simple ones…lol, and keeps his head down and away from outside influences. Westry too, 100k for an undrafted free agent is not normal… he could be great as well, Bunchy, Conrad, West and Baity should all make their teams..
