Kentucky Wildcats Make Preseason College Football Watch Lists

Kentucky kicked off college football talking season on Monday at SEC Media Days.  They’ve taken the spotlight to a talking season pastime, the preseason watch list.

Four Kentucky Wildcats have been nominated for some of the most prestigious awards in all of college football.  The candidates will not surprise you: Benny Snell, Josh Allen, Mike Edwards and C.J. Conrad.

Snell is one of 85 to make the watch list for the 2018 Maxwell Award.  The award has been given to the best player in college football annually since 1937.  Snell also made the Doak Walker watch list, given each year to the nation’s top running back. Edwards and Allen have earned a spot on the watch list for the Badnarik Award, given to the nation’s top defender.  Semifinalists will be announced October 29, with three finalists named November 19.

Conrad has been nominated for the All-State Good Works Team.  Eleven players who are college football’s most outstanding community servants will be named to the team in September.  The most recent UK football recipient is punter Landon Foster.

Is the Good Works Team just 11 individuals or are they selected by positions? If by position, seems like C.J. would have an extremely good chance of making it. BBN is blessed to have someone like him, as well as the other UK nominees, to represent the great State of Kentucky.

I completely agree. Overall we have a really good bunch of players who are great individuals, with the one recent exception of course. A lot of schools have a flurry of off season arrests and issues due to questionable character guys. Proud to have our group represent BBN.

I really wish benny could win the hisman but we’re gonna endure a few losses so it will knock him out of winning it outright . He still will finish in top 5 for the award . That’s such good news & makes me smile inside because we all know the sorrow filled lives we live as uk football fans

I will bet you all of the money that Benny Snell won’t finish in the top 5 of the Heisman. He won’t even be the best RB in the SEC East

With Bama’s Oline and friendly refs it will probably be Harris which sucks.
