USA Today ranked the 128 FBS teams in college football and UK is wayyyyyyy down the list. Kentucky came in at No. 77 in the rankings, behind UL-Lafayette, its first opponent, and schools like Ball State, Colorado State, Arkansas State, Bowling Green and Rice.

That’s flat out disrespectful.

Here’s where UK’s opponents ranked:

3. Auburn
16. Georgia
23. Missouri
26. Louisville
33. Tennessee
40. South Carolina
45. Mississippi State
61. UL-Lafayette
69. Florida
121. Vanderbilt
128. Charlotte

All these players running 20 mph and having 10 lb+ bowel movements gets you ranked number 77

It amazes me that we have had 3 solid years of recruiting, not great, but certainly better than ave and also, what like 55 players that now run 20mph and they rank us this low? Any other conference and we would be hovering around 25th in the Nation week in and week out.

    That’s crazy talk.

Like, I know (even) we bag on Vandy, but they’ve brought in top-50 247 classes the last two years, and a top-25 class in ’13. They might have the 121st-best record at the end of November, but the idea that they could be 121st-best on the field, even with their QB dumpster fire and losing two offensive starters for the year is flat ignorant.

Vanderbilt is not much better than that ranking (if at all). They were absolutely destroyed by inept Temple, 37-7, and only managed to beat D2 UMass by a last second FG miss, as well as a 1 pt. win over Charleston Southern. With these results, in addition to no conference wins last season, they absolutely deserve no higher of a ranking.

You’re right about their record, Delk, but Vandy is just one of many problems when anyone ranks all 128 teams.

Even ULL, who Vegas disfavors to us by 14 points, is ranked in this (and on CBS) way higher than we are.

We’re also ranked behind Louisiana Tech (57th), who, with Jeff Driskel this year, will very likely stomp a 37th-ranked (!!) WKU.

It just seems like he went, “Okay, OSU 1, got that … now it’s darts and whiskey fun time.”

Here’s what has me pumped up right now: That interview with Towles- he said he has no doubt they can get to Atlanta. I started thinking about it- you know what? We can get to Atlanta! We only have to be better than 23rd ranked team in Missouri. They are the best team in the East according to this poll and probably so…but I think we have a chance to do this!

Georgia scored every time, UT scored almost every time, “we” lost Bud and Z’Darius and this clown is predicting going to Atlanta? The only way to do that is to run a lot more trick plays like reverses and flea-flickers

All of our fans need to pump the brakes with the talk about winning the SEC East. Sure, we could be good, and win a bunch of games, but we are less than a calendar year removed from getting absolutely smacked by Georgia and Tennessee. Let us beat La.-Lafayette, South Carolina, and Florida first before we cross the bridge of surpassing Mizzou and/or Georgia as a possible SEC East champ.

I do think there is a legitimate (if just a tad outrageous) chance that we go into the Auburn game 5-0. I don’t think it WILL happen, but I really do think it COULD.

77 is about where this team should be ranked. KSR and other so called fan sites have been pumping up this team like they do every year

And I’m mad about it, even though I don’t root for this team.

    “That’s flat out disrespectful.”

Drew, we must “earn” respect on the field. We’ve consistently failed to do that since Joker took over as head coach. We have yet another chance this year…
