Kentucky redshirt freshman outside linebacker Roland Walder announced on Twitter he will transfer from the University of Kentucky.
An all-state selection from Trotwood-Madison in Dayton, Ohio, Walder originally chose Kentucky over Nebraska, Purdue, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Pitt and others. A member of the class of 2016, Walder never saw a snap at UK, redshirting in his only year in Lexington.
This spring another outside linebacker in the 2016 class, Jamar “Boogie” Watson, appeared to lock up the No. 2 outside linebacker spot alongside JUCO transfer Jordan Bonner. In the 2017 recruiting class, Mark Stoops signed three studs at Walder’s position: Joshua Paschal, Jordan Wright and Alex King. The Cats should be just fine after this departure.
