Kentucky Opens as 2 1/2 Point Underdog Versus South Carolina

UK Football
UK Football

Kentucky simply wasn’t good enough yesterday. After an early pick-6, the Bulldogs of Mississippi State never looked back on its way to a 28-13 victory in Starkville. Enough about that, let’s move on! The ‘Cats will travel to Columbia, South Carolina on Saturday for a pivotal game against the Gamecocks. Out in Las Vegas, South Carolina has opened up as a 2 1/2 point favorite at home against Kentucky.

South Carolina is just 1-3 with their lone win coming against Charleston Southern, which they won 72-10.  The Gamecocks lost in Week 1 to Mack Brown and North Carolina and then fell in a more competitive than expected contest against Alabama before losing Saturday night 34-14 at Missouri. True Freshman QB Ryan Hilinski really struggled against Mizzou, completing just 13 of his 30 passing attempts for 166 yards. He also threw a pick-6 and started the game with a miscue that led to another Missouri defensive touchdown.

The Gamecocks were completely shut down on the ground as well. They only managed 16 rushing yards on their 24 attempts. Yes, you read that correctly! Despite giving up over 400 total yards in back-to-back games, the Wildcat defense should be able to control the game against Hilinski and the South Carolina offense.

We’ll take the Cats.

I thought the spread would be a touchdown. With our QB hurt, it will be a tough game.

I think they are a little flippant with that taking UK. Unless were playing a parochial school, I think we lose right now. I’ll take SC minus 8.

If the team plays like “well if Stoops has no faith in us we have no faith in him” for an entire half we’ll lose. In their defense they gave Stoops as many quarters of play in the MSST game as he gave them at UF. A conservative offense and playing prevent D would make any team feel disrespected.

I would give 2.5 and Kentucky, all day long. Especially after what our defense has shown against MAC teams and mid level SEC teams.
Missouri is one heck of a team. SC losing to Mizzou, is not a crime, in fact I think Mizzou challenges for 2nd in the east.

Oh how 2 weeks changes the conversation… 2 weeks ago, you idiots were trying to talk yourself into how we win the East. Now it’s, USC by 2.5, and they’ll cover. UK football never changes.

We changed from a back to back 2-10 win seasons to a 10 win season in six years jackass. Nice try though. Run along now, I’m sure there’s a basketball player waiting daily dik rub by JPhelps.

By the way, we are not a ten win team this year.

Experts said 5 or 6 wins this year cause its a defensive rebuild year. I cant wait to see this team next year. As far as this year with a weak secondary and back up qb, i still see a 7 and 3 or maybe 8 and 4 season in the works. GO BIG BLUE!!

Told you all Kentucky will lose….record will be 4-8….just you wait. Many said they will finish 10 and 2. BS!!! Quit drinking the BBN koolaid and stop wearing the rose colored glasses…UK is simply not that good in football. Defensive line is horrible, allowed two 100 yd plus rushers – heck the linebackers stink too. The secondary can’t defend a pass. UK doesn’t have a kicker except perhaps a punter. Spurrier was right in saying at leaster they have a punter. The offensive line is not as great as they were hyped up to be and you got a QB who throws more to the opposing team than his own receivers. What the heck do you expect with all this “talent”. Definitely not a SEC team but a team that can’t even compete in the Toilet Bowl at the end of the season.

If pick 6 sawyer and his slippery-handed receivers show up, we’ll lose by 14. That being said, we SHOULD win by 3 tds.

Well I guess since we aren’t playoff material this year, true to form, the “chicken littles” of big blue nation have returned home to roost. This is a young but talented team overall. Where people got the idea that we might only lose to Georgia this year is beyond me. My expectations for this year were acceptable 7-5, solid 8-4, catch some breaks at the right time 9-3. We SURE AS HELL haven’ caught any breaks yet this year. Some of the people who comment regularly on these posts are either opposing fan base trolls or are certifiably insane. If you hate football, hate the coaches, and don’t support or like the players, then why in the hell do you waste valuable time posting? If your an opposing fan base troll then so be it. Post all you want. Just to inform you, I don’t like certain opposing teams either, especially one locally in particular, but I don’t post on their sites. Getting into a debate with them is like dueling with an unarmed man. Go cats.

I’ll admit I was one of the 10 win believers, partially based on the fact that we were told this team would have to bring in a higher octane offense to cover the d. My faith didn’t lessen until I watched Stoops put his young d in a bad position by making them win the FL game instead of letting the offense finish the game. Even then I was like you know what we can do this, and then the prevent d showed up and got destroyed, finished off by a kicker with the wobbliest xp kicks I’ve seen in a while and a deer in a headlight look on his face being sent out to win the game. Then it hit me we’re screwed, Stoops hasn’t adapted to the changes in his position groups he’s trying to play like Benny and Allen are still here and the best secondary we’ve seen at this school in the modern era is behind him. My lack of faith isn’t in the team or players it’s in whether the staff will put them in the best position to win. One example is Paschal has had to put more weight on then his position can handle and needs to be on the line and Peters who is eligible needs to be in the rotation. And stop attacking Smith, prior to his hand getting hurt he only made one bad mistake and was a big part of us having the lead. Much like our qbs prior to this year an injury has set them back and didn’t look right till they recovered from it.

Some of you people are ridiculous!! This team had the makings of a great season on paper, but we have suffered terrible luck. Since summer practice opened we lost our best defensive back and our starting QB. Paschel is going to take some time coming back from his ordeal. Our kicker is apparently a practice superstar and game time dud. Lynn is trying to take over but the D is keyed on him big time. I though we could win 8 or 9 games but with what we lost last year and this year with injuries a 6 or maybe 7 win season is great. Yes i blame the coaches for going to conservative versus Florida but if Smith hurt his hand it is understandable. Just do not understand how you can blame Stoops for the bad luck UK has been handed this year.

    • Thetruthshallsetbennyfree
      2:10 pm September 23, 2019 Permalink

He went conservative prior to hurting his hand.

And no one is blaming him for UK’S bad luck, they’re blaming him for all the times UK has had a lead and he changes his offensive and defensive strategy and all of a sudden that team goes from getting spanked to making a serious comeback. See the 2 most important games from last year FL and Penn St.

If Sawyer can’t go and Walker Wood has to play and if our secondary keeps playing like hot garbage then we are going to get blown the f out of Columbia SC!!! Either way I see us losing this game by 7-10 pts. I think we finish 6-6 that includes a loss to Vandy they putt up 38 pts on LSU imagine how many points they can put up against our dumpster ? secondary?
