Kentucky is in the middle of an official visit weekend as some very prominent 2022 prospects are checking out Lexington. However, the program has already moved ahead to the 2023 class at the sport’s most important position.

Offensive coordinator Liam Coen is currently in the process of evaluating quarterback prospects and issuing offers. The Wildcats are trying to figure out exactly who they want to target. KSR posted a big board of quarterback prospects last week, but now there is a new name to add to the list.

Paris (Tenn.) Henry County is a powerhouse program in the Volunteer State and their rising junior quarterback has now earned his first Power Five offer. Coen called the young quarterback and issued an offer on Friday night, according to Damron. Kentucky is searching for guys to play behind center.

Christopher Vizzina just visited campus on Saturday and got the “VIP treatment” from the coaching staff according to Justin Rowland of Rivals. For this upcoming Wednesday, KSR has learned that quarterbacks Chris Parson and Brock Glenn will be on campus for UK’s one-day camp. Now Damron is another player to monitor.

The 5-foot-10 quarterback is at a size disadvantage but throws a very impressive deep ball on tape. This month, the unranked quarterback has visited Wake Forest and Tennessee. Middle Tennessee was his only other FBS offer to this point in the recruiting process.

The Wildcats continue to recruit the state of Tennessee very heavily while Coen is on the hunt for his quarterback of the future. KSR will be on the scene Wednesday to provide updates on the two rising juniors.

The class of 2022 still needs to be filled, but the groundwork is being done on prospects in the class of 2023.

Recruiting never sleeps.

I understand you take what you can get year one, but Coen is looking years down the line and targeting unranked kids getting interest from Wake and MTSU? If Coen does his job and we have a successful offense in the SEC, this kid will be there for the taking or being recruited over. Hard to understand why we’d be so aggressive this early.

Interesting, since Corn was hired, QBs are almost solely rated on how they throw the deep ball. One aspect of playing QB.
They way we still recruit players by being the first Power 5 to offer them shows we don’t consider ourselves to be on the same level as the big name schools.

That’s because we aren’t, lol. Try and try and successful year after successful year UK is NEVER going to be Alabama or Georgia or even Florida…. Ever. Just like those schools will never be us in basketball. We may have a a better season than those guys once in a blue moon, but that’s it. We can’t afford to put all of our coaching and recruiting resources into going after some top 5 QB only to have them ultimately turn us down for Ohio state or something. That’s just who we are. We will never be a school that is in the playoff conversation every single year like bama or Ohio state. Just not going to happen.

We will never take the next step on the back of 3-star quarterbacks. Seems like all the pieces to the puzzle are in place except the QB position.

Why are we wasting scholarships on a 5-10 quarterback? Geez
