Kentucky native Damien Harris selected No. 87 by the Patriots

Another Alabama player is heading to New England – this time, it’s Kentucky native Damien Harris. The running back was selected by the Patriots during the third round as the 87th pick.

The Richmond native launched his football career at Madison Southern High School. Although he was heavily recruited by Kentucky, he couldn’t say no to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.

Once he arrived in Tuscaloosa, Harris became a major contributor – he averaged 6.4 yards per carry, good for a program record among running backs with at least 400 carries. He was also one of just eight players in program history to record 3,000 career yards during his four years on the team.

Come next season, Damien Harris will be suiting up for the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Now when Lonnie and Allen play The “Cheat”riots there’s 2 people I can root for them to get mangled. Brady can’t win a fair playoff game and Harris used us to get attention. I could be wrong Harris may have legitimately wanted to come here but the money was to good. Either way he sucks to. And several ex Bama guys have insuated they got help in making their decision so it is what it is.

I feel like generally, writing Couch Haiku for KSR at 3A is a poor choice… it exposes the more transparent inadequacies in style and substance. Here Endeth the Lesson.

Great for Harris but I think Snell is the better back.

Nice Mr Harris and making your debut with the champions is not a bad beginning at all.

Not yet; of course, no one ever accused NFL execs of being smart. A 5’10” QB at no. 1, and a QB from 3-5 Dook at no.6…sheesh.

Never did blame him or have ill feelings toward him for spurning UK for Alabama. Hard to blame him. But when he said he roots for Duke in basketball…….

Outstanding pick and player from the Bluegrass State. He has performed well purely on athletic ability in college but with the right coaching, he can have a long and successful career in the NFL. (Oh, he’s from Kentucky but didn’t play at Kentucky? Never mind ……)

(Seriously, congrats to him and to all those players whose dream to play in the NFL is coming true.)

It’s time to quit hating the kid because he went to Tuscaloosa . Be proud that a home state boy made it to the patriots

I don’t dislike him for choosing the Tide but for cowardly stringing the Cats along, all through the recruiting process. Around the bowl and down the hole—roll tide .
