Another day, another preseason Top 25 that includes the University of Kentucky. Today’s comes to us from the staff at Yahoo Sports, which believes the Wildcats are the No. 18 team in the country ahead of this very weird season.
Kentucky is one of eight SEC teams on the list, along with Alabama (No. 2), Georgia (No. 3), LSU (No. 5), Florida (No. 6), Texas A&M (No. 9), Auburn (No. 11), and Tennessee (No. 19). If you know this year’s schedule by heart, you know that the Cats face five of those teams. Louisville also makes an appearance in the rankings, four spots below the Cats at No. 22.
“Mark Stoops has built Kentucky into a consistent winner,” Yahoo’s staff writes. “The next step is climbing the ladder in the SEC East. While Lynn Bowden — receiver-turned-Wildcat quarterback extraordinaire — is off to the NFL, Kentucky will return 2018 starter Terry Wilson back to the lineup at quarterback after an injury ended his 2019 campaign. Wilson will line up behind one of the nation’s top offensive lines, a unit that returns four starters. The defense, meanwhile, could emerge as one of the SEC’s best. The conference-only schedule makes things tougher, but the Wildcats can compete with anybody.”
Yeaaaah, buddy. Speaking of Terry, here’s over a minute of footage of him at yesterday’s practice:
