Maybe things aren’t so perfect after all, Kentucky football fans. The excitement and momentum from an exceptional offseason under Mark Stoops hit a brick wall Saturday night in Nashville. That brick wall, that Sun Belt Conference brick wall, was the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers — for a second year in a row.
The Hilltoppers put it on the Wildcats, 35-26, in a game that was a lot more lopsided than the score indicates. Western’s offense seemed unstoppable as Kentucky’s front four failed to apply any pressure, and on the off chance a UK defender was in position, they failed to make a tackle.
On the offensive side of the ball, false starts were prevalent for the Wildcats and we learned the Air Raid is going to take some time before it’s an Air Raid. To make matters worse, the quarterback competition will continue to be a competition for at least another week.
Nick and Tyler will be by shortly with more from Nashville.
Keep your heads up, #BBN.
