Gotta go with gatewood moving forward and find a receiver besides Ali. He’s fumbled the last two games and had numerous drops. One of the true freshman even have to be better …. someone who can catch a pass ….

Perfect Trap game if I’ve ever seen one. Mizzou just wanted it, plain and simple. Same way we were tired of hearing about the streak last week.

4-6 looks like the most plausible record at this point; at least we will still (likely) get Louisville in a bowl game

Trap game my back side. We are what we are and it is KY football. Good teams don’t get embarrassed by a bad team.

Agree with person who called this a trap game. I didn’t like the schedule switch and thought it disfavored UK. That being said, Wilson cannot pass and has really never been able to. Greatly benefitted from Snell two years ago. Also would love to recruit receivers who could, you know, actually receive.

Leaves offense in Lexington??? Lmfao!!! You can’t leave what you’ve never had!

Keep playing Wilson at QB. This is hilarious. I actually watched the game for just seeing how few yards we would get. I wasn’t let down.

Yea – how was that ever going to work. The freshman and sophomore we faced this year can put a pass in a receiver’s hands in stride where they can catch it. Can the miss a read? Sure… but they can make a pass. This clown can’t do either!

I give him credit for a miracle last year but he’s been an abomination this year. And he accepts responsibility so let’s assume he’s right, and go w someone who can coach a real QB. He’s had them.

After half a century of constant misery with U.K. Football, never have I turned my back on the Cats. I won’t turn it now either. What I will turn on is the media, including KSR, which overhyped this team and its talent ALL SUMMER. Freddie Maggard is the only writer with the football knowledge and maturity to put forth an accurate read for our football Team. Otherwise, I fill like puking Yahtzee’s all night! This week I hope the coach soaks his lit cigar in his burbon before he resorts to eating it.
Coach Schlarman is in my prayer, let’s focus on the important moments and events in this short life.
      Go Cats!

I will not watch another game Terry Wilson starts. He looks slow and can’t read the defense. Let’s see Matt prop him up after that. He’s been off target all season if you know what to look for. This loss is on stoops for sticking with Terry. I love the kid but he can’t play. That’s the worst qb Performance I’ve ever seen. That loss is on stoops for not making this move earlier. The writing has been on the wall for Terry and stoops was going to make him lose one more before benching him.

Well, we can’t say “We’re only 4 plays from being undefeated!” anymore.

BTW, as I tried to say in the Live Blog, am I the only one who hasn’t forgotten that we have a terrific passer named Sawyer Smith on the sidelines? I’m not saying he has the raw talent of Gatewood, and maybe not Allen, but he was really good last year before he got hurt.

Building a high caliber football program that can compete at the national level is extremely difficult. It’s not like basketball, where recruiting 2-3 blue chips players can have an immediate and dramatic impact. Football requires that you have a roster of 20-30 studs who are elite. It’s hard for schools like Kentucky to accumulate top talent when you are competing against national powerhouses who absorb most of the elite talent. The only way to break out of the pack is to hire a coach who is elite or has elite potential, someone who can put together a highly effective staff and maximize existing talent. Someone who can do the most with the least, until success on the field begins to attract more and more quality recruits. The process begins with hiring a high quality coach who is not only an excellent tactician, but also has the skills of a CEO who knows how to build a program from the ground up. Stoops is a good coach, but not a great one. He has been at Kentucky several years now. His teams tend to be up and down – one stop forward and then two steps back. That’s what we can expect in the future. Not much will change unless we are able to catch lightening in a bottle one day – hiring an up and coming coach who is on his way to the top and will take Kentucky along with him. In the meantime, there will be high points like beating Tennessee at home, only to be followed with a disappointing loss to the likes of Missouri.

    • Bluehender
      10:06 pm October 24, 2020 Permalink

We beat Tennessee on the road. Trap games happen to lots of teams. Winning an emotional game one week and overlooking your next opponent in anticipation of a game the following week is a common occurence on all levels of football. We weren’t ready, mentally to play today and they were. There’s not much difference in the SEC, between the lower tier teams and middle tier teams. And the difference often times, is mental preparation.

  39. JohnnyCat
    8:54 pm October 24, 2020 Permalink

Stoops problem is that he is powerless on the sidelines. He delegates all responsibility to his assistants. The best coaches are much more proactive…particularly with regard to installing and running an offensive scheme. He is merely a figurehead beholden to whatever horsechit plays Gran runs looking with his foggy glasses on that playsheet with maybe 10 total plays…max.
