This afternoon, another protest against racial injustice and police violence will take place in downtown Lexington, and some very prominent figures will be at the front of the march. KSR is hearing that members of the Kentucky Football team will participate in the protest, led by Mark Stoops and Courtney Love, former player and current director of player development.
This will be the eighth straight day that people have gathered downtown to demand justice for the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless other persons of color. For the most part, the protests in Lexington have remained peaceful; in fact, for the first time this week, police officers did not wear riot gear last night to show protesters they are willing to listen, and even handed out popsicles.
Lexington police also told protest organizers that they’ll have popsicles for them if they want them. Protest organizer says police have said its good for officers to hear what protesters are saying, and that it’s making a difference.
