Kentucky Football falls just outside of Top 25 in Preseason Coaches’ Poll

After spending 12 straight weeks in the AP Top 25 poll, college football coaches put the Cats outside of the Top 25 to start the 2019 season.

In the first edition of the Amway Coaches’ Poll Kentucky received 79 votes, good for 31st in the country.

UK was just three teams behind cross-divisional rival, Mississippi State. Georgia (3) and Florida (8) are UK’s only two 2019 opponents that made the coaches 2019 preseason Top 25. The higher Florida’s ranked, the more impressive Kentucky’s victory will look September 14 at Kroger Field.

What the heck is with the Nebraska hype? I don’t get it. They definitely are not 5 spots better than UK

That is actually higher than I thought we’d be to start the season. Not that I don’t think we’ll be great, we just have a lot of question marks right now that I’d understand the national media not wanting to give much solid commitment to yet.

I agree and hey.. it gives the Cats certainly another motive to prove they belong. Go Blue!

Not sure what else you have to do as a program to be a preseason top 25 team. UK turned a corner last year and could very well be the third best team in the SEC this year if Taylor can hold onto the football this year.

We have lost a lot of pivotal players and we have to get that consistency level. I hate it too but just being honest.

Don’t know who this Taylor guy is who’s gonna have the ball in his hands constantly, but I hope you’re right.

Michigan has NO business in the top 10.

I’m glad they didn’t stuck us up in the top 25. Stoops and co has this angle worked well. He knows how to motivate when we’re over looked . Get ready for a season full of ‘overachieving ‘ again . That’s how we play our best

I love UK as much as anyone else but some of you act like this is some juggernaut of a program now. Starting the season by receiving votes is a step in the right direction. Fact is this team lost a lot talent and a couple of those guys were elite and this program has not yet proven it can just plug guys in to replace those kinds of departures. When they prove that they will find themselves ranked and maybe next year in preseason rankings.

Dude, Roush has been doing this all summer. It started with his #FreeMoney guarantee that we will win 7 games. It doesn’t matter who is on our schedule. One good season and we got hosed if we aren’t preseason top 10. Doesn’t matter if we lost our all time leading rusher, all time sack leader and 10 other starters. Terry’s wilson’s Completion percentage is the only stat we go by around here. Don’t look at his passing attempts, passing touchdowns or turnovers. We like our fans mindless and Koolaid drinking.

But we totally reserve the right to bash other schools if they do what we are doing in basketball. Because who are they?

      No big deal, right Roush?

I might agree with you more if they didn’t have teams like Nebraska (who went 4-8 last season) ranked ahead of us.

Regardless of what we are ranked or what’s nevraska is ranked though. His point is. We aren’t a step below Alabama. We are a good clip behind Alabama. And that’s ok. Roush writes like we are within a step of being Alabama. And he’s a koolaid drinking fool to do that.

I didn’t see that it said we were on par with Alabama. Doesn’t matter, just more gasoline for the fire…we will thrive on the lack of respect.

That Week 3 game against Gators at home is SO huge. That one could really get the season going in the right direction of being really special. Beating a top ten team, (maybe top five by then,) would show everyone we aren’t going away anytime soon.

None of us should get worked up over this. It’s the bowl selection and the final poll that really matters.
