UK Fans of the Day want the latest Bowl Projections

Coming off the bye week with plenty of uncertainty at quarterback, Kentucky’s bowl projections aren’t looking nearly as grand as they did at the beginning of the season, but the national media still believes the Cats will advance to the postseason for the fourth straight season.

Here’s a rundown of their latest predictions:

  • ESPN: Belk Bowl vs. Miami or North Carolina (Dec. 31, noon, Charlotte)
  • CBS Sports: Liberty Bowl vs. TCU (Dec. 31, 3:45 p.m., Memphis)
  • Sports Illustrated: Independence Bowl vs. Virginia Tech (Dec. 26, 4 p.m., Shreveport)
  • USA Today: Liberty Bowl vs. Oklahoma State (Dec. 31, 3:45 p.m., Memphis)
  • Brett McMurphy: Texas Bowl vs. Texas Tech (Dec. 27, 6:45 p.m., Houston)

Belk Bowl, please.

Given that today basically EVERY team gets to go to a bowl, even if you have a losing record in some cases, making a post season appearance isn’t really that big of a deal.

What is a big deal, in my opinion, is that yet again, UK is slated for a third or fourth tier bowl because they simply can’t play with the powers in the SEC.

Such is their fate it seems, as it has been for the past 50 years.

Except this is not the same as the last 50 years. We lost the defensive player of the year in all of college football {not the same as the last 50 years}, we lost the best RB in UK history{not the same as the last 50 years}, we lost several NFL picks {not the same as last 50 years}, we are coming off a New Years Day Bowl WIN {not the same as the last 50 years}, we lost our only experienced DB before the season started {not the same}, we lost our starting QB in game 2 {not the same}, we dominated a top 10 team for 3 quarters until the staff got scared to keep playing {not same as last 50 but is same as last 4}, we have more depth and talent than any time in UK history with more very good players coming in {not the same}. And yes a Bowl game matters as they get more practice time which helps for next year seeing as we have most of the team coming back. Remember we have most of the team that was dominating a top 10 team for 3 quarters without our starting QB, coming back. Know facts or shut your lip.

If only mashbum could nail anything when it comes to basketball, but he can’t because he’s a liar and a phony.

Been with U.K. football for a long time, thru thick and mostly thin. Seen devastating loses. Never hung my head, always carry and display the U.K. paraphernalia. Lose this game, and this team is staring a 2-6 record in the face after mashings from Ga. AND Missouri. All recruiting momentum gone, 4 stars jump ship, and yeah the stadium will be half full. Even Mark Story of the HL picks an Arkansas win Saturday…
    Hmmm…..

Stadium is just over half full last year when we won 10 games for 3 or 4 of our home games. UGA game was 1/3 UGA fans. Is what it is on the football side. They don’t even sell Rupp out for most games, always plenty of seats available now days. Used to be one of the toughest ticket in sports.

If we don’t right the shop on Saturday, we’re not going to a bowl.
