Kentucky Avoids Major Injuries vs. Southern Miss

Mark Stoops was pleased to share a clean slate on Kentucky’s injury report following their week one win over Southern Miss.  The Cats didn’t receive any serious blows, but there were a few that got “banged up” in Hattiesburg.

During the game Mike Edwards was forced to the sidelines with cramps and had to receive IV fluids.  Running back Sihiem King nearly took a kickoff to the house for a touchdown (it would’ve been the first UK kick return touchdown in more than six years), but King’s hamstring cramped up halfway down the field, forcing him to cutback into traffic.  Stoops was happy it was a cramp and not a pull.

Another running back didn’t see the field because of a minor injury during practice.  Fans expected to see A.J. Rose get some reps at tailback, but the coaches were cautious after Rose missed a few critical days of practice leading into the game.

Bunchy Stallings, Nick Haynes and a few defensive lineman are also in the “banged up” category, but as of now Stoops said, “There’s nothing (major) to inform you all of at this point.”
