Kentucky adds new grad transfer punter from Columbia

Mark Stoops has added a new punter to his punting rotation in the form of Matthew Panton, an Australian who is transferring to Kentucky from Columbia University.

Panton announced via Twitter that he will use his graduate transfer year to become a Wildcat and pursue his MBA at UK.

According to the bio on his former school’s website, Panton was a member of Columbia’s heavyweight rowing program and he is an experienced Australian Rules Football player.

In an interview for HerCampus.com, Panton said his favorite football sexual innuendo is, “I pin them deep.” He had a 41.1 yards-per-punt average in 2016 to back that up.

I don’t think there is anything left to know about him, really.

Welcome aboard.

Doesn’t hurt to have some options just in case. One way or another, the punting game has to drastically improve.
