A few days before Kentucky’s defense faces their toughest challenge so far this season in Missouri, Coach House and the defense took the time to talk to the media today. Here are your weekly defensive practice notes:
Kash Daniel is in a club…and it’s kind of badass
After breaking his hand against Vanderbilt, Kash Daniel has been adamant about himself not spending any time off the football field. So, today we got our first look at Kash Daniel wearing his infinity gauntlet, and it’s pretty badass. Kash said he hadn’t had any trouble tackling anybody; it’s just a different style he’s had to work on this week. Coach House thinks Kash will play like he has all year on Saturday.
We should see Kash play normally on Saturday, but the club makes the mascot of the 606 look even cooler. Can someone photoshop Kash to look like Thanos?
Obviously, there is an emphasis on Drew Lock
You’d have to live under a rock to not know about Drew Lock, who is for my money the second best quarterback in the SEC, so there is no question he will be a focal point for the defense on Saturday. “He’s got unbelievable arm talent,” said Coach House. “He hangs in there, makes tough throws, he can see coverages, and he knows where he’s going with the ball, he throws in rhythm. He’s a special quarterback.”
Kash Daniel believes Lock could’ve gone in last year’s loaded quarterback draft class, and he said Lock was one of the most dynamic quarterbacks he’s ever seen on film.
Sidenote: Josh Allen said him and Drew Lock are friends…I can’t confidently say many quarterbacks are too fond of Josh Allen on the field, and I’m sure Josh Allen won’t mind having a few meetings with his friend in the backfield on Saturday.
Kentucky Welcomes Missouri’s High Powered Offense
Saturday’s game will feature one of the nation’s top offenses in Missouri, going up against Kentucky’s defense, that is 2nd in the nation in points allowed.
“It’s always nice to have a challenge up against you each week,” said Kash Daniel. “You gotta prove yourself to people each and every week who don’t believe in the hype. So, I’m glad we’re getting challenged every week and I’m glad people are still not putting any faith in us. Keep it up.”
Josh Allen also likes Kentucky’s chances and thinks this will further justify Kentucky’s rankings. It will be a Kentucky’s biggest challenge, thus far on Saturday, but in the words of Quinton Bohanna, “It ain’t no big deal we just gonna do what we do.”
Other Practice notes:
-Davonte Robinson has earned time on the field
-Kash Daniel doesn’t care about TJ Moe’s tweet (I didn’t even get to finish my question)
-Missouri has a three-man rushing crew
-A lot of Missouri’s big plays come off of missed tackles
