Something we have known for four years now is finally being realized by the national media: Kentucky linebacker Kash Daniel is one hell of an interview.
Following all of the Media Days this week, 247Sports compiled a list of all of the best player interviews in the nation. To no one’s surprise, No. 56 was included as a true media star.
Highlighting Daniel’s Game of Thrones references, the trash talk, his love for fishing, and his true Kentucky twang, the outlet couldn’t help but include the senior linebacker.
”From his rifts on Game of Thrones (“they kind of rushed” the final season) to his country twang to his vocal defenses of Kentucky, Daniel is always a great and colorful quote,” he said. “When told the over/under for Kentucky this season was six games earlier this summer, Daniel had this to say: “They’re just a bunch of jacka****, who cares? ESPN, CBS, NBC … I don’t care. Season start in August, we’ll see how it goes.” Is Daniel correct? Eh. But that’s the type of passion we love to see in interviews! Daniel is also, arguably, Kentucky’s top returning player. The rising senior finished last season with 84 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss. He’ll also talk your ear off about fishing. Daniel is a member of Kentucky’s bass fishing team in his spare time.”
They somehow managed to leave out his WWE references and his future as a professional wrestler, but it’ll do.
Others included on the list? South Carolina defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, Texas A&M safety Leon O’Neal Jr., Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger, Alabama running back Najee Harris, Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson, Clemson guard John Simpson, Florida running back LaMical Perine, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, and Georgia kicker Rodrigo Blankenship.
