“Juice” on “Juice”

What is Juice?

No, I don’t mean the extracted liquid from fruits and vegetables, or Tupac Shakur’s first crossover into film back in 1992.

I mean the UK football juice, whatever that is.

I know it’s sophomore wide receiver Garrett Johnson’s nickname. I’ve seen the wide receivers call themselves the #JuiceBoyz. But I’m still not completely sure what it means.

So I pulled Johnson aside at today’s UK Football Media Day and asked him to explain:

As he describes it, “Juice is the swagger that you have to carry all the time.”

“It’s very important. It takes you from here to here.”

Johnson caught 22 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns last season. Both touchdowns and 154 of those yards came against Florida, his home state school.

This fall, Johnson is projected to see a lot of touches in the slot, after being one of the receiving corps’ hardest workers over the summer.

Expect more of what we saw of him in Gainesville, throughout his entire second season. Plenty of Juice ahead in 2015.

FYI – “Juice” had 271 yards receiving last year. Not 171.
