Josh Allen listed as top-three 2019 NFL Draft pick, Heisman candidate

When Kentucky star pass-rusher Josh Allen decided to come back to school for a senior campaign, we knew raising draft stock was one of his main priorities. He was already listed anywhere from the early-second to the mid-third round on draft boards, but he wasn’t stopping until he earned that beloved first-round grade.

Little did he know, by returning to school, Allen has boosted his stock not only to the first round, but to the top-five.

CBS Sports released their latest 2019 NFL mock draft, where the star linebacker came in at No. 3 overall to the Oakland Raiders.

In fact, the website compared Allen to former Raider and current superstar pass-rusher Khalil Mack, saying the Wildcat would fill a massive void on the defense.

Take a look at their analysis below:

3. Josh Allen, OLB, Kentucky. If you’re drafting a pass rusher this high, ideally you’d like him to be, for example, Khalil Mack. Given that the Raiders traded Mack before the season, Allen might not be a bad consolation prize. He’s had a fantastic season to date, and seems to get better in every aspect from one week to the next. He had two sacks and two forced fumbles against Missouri last week, bringing his season totals to 10 and five, respectively.

While CBS had Allen ranked the highest, no other major outlet listed the Wildcat star outside of the top-15.

DraftTeck has the 6-foot-5 linebacker going No. 8 to the New York Jets:

Bleacher Report has Allen going to the Raiders, this time just outside the top-ten at No. 12 overall:

Walter Football also has Allen going No. 12 to the Raiders:

Sporting News has Allen “slipping” a bit to No. 15 overall, again to the Raiders (I think I sense a theme here):

While we’re talking about the defensive freak-of-nature, Josh Allen has also cracked the list of ESPN’s latest Heisman candidates.

Allen joins only Houston’s Ed Oliver as the lone defensive talents on the list and he’s just one of three non-quarterback contenders.

Take a look at the list here:

Top-three pick? Heisman candidate? Likely SEC Defensive Player of the Year? Shattered program records?

I’d say that’s a pretty solid senior campaign.

Has earned the right to be in the Heisman discussion. If he continues to play as well as he has, and the Cats finish as strong as they can, he should be invited to NY

I agree notfromhere; the kid is a beast and perhaps the most impactful player in the nation.

I think some Josh Allen for Heismam signs at game day definitely would be helpful!

Every great team has had a player that played above everyone else. Early in the year it was Benny carrying us, sense he has been slowed down somewhat we have had to depend on our defense and Josh Allen has stepped up to the plate for us. Couldn’t happen to a better young man.

Wouldn’t you just love to see Josh have 5 sacks in his last game sporting the blue and white?!

I don’t get why draft boards still have him listed at 230 pounds. It is easy to see he is a lot bigger than 230, I believe Jones is around 230. Allen is north of 260, has it not been changed on his bio?

I don’t know how draft boards had him going anywhere outside the top 5. That just amazes me. Please, show me 4 players you would rather have on your team!
